I was so thrilled to see Milly Alcock as Supergirl, even in those quick appearances in Superman and Peacemaker! Now, she’s getting her own movie, and it’s a huge deal – it’s the second film kicking off the new DC Universe. The movie, also called Supergirl, is based on this incredible comic book run, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It’s not the Supergirl story we all think we know, though. This Kara Zor-El is much more complex – she’s seen Krypton destroyed and is driven by a need for revenge, traveling the galaxy with a young girl named Ruthye. I heard principal photography wrapped, but they’re doing some reshoots now, and rumors are flying that a major new character might be joining the adventure, which is super exciting!
Rumors suggest upcoming reshoots for the Supergirl movie will include new scenes with David Corenswet as Superman. While unconfirmed information should be viewed cautiously, the claim seems likely. Recently, Warner Bros. removed Corenswet’s Superman costume from its studio tour exhibit, replacing it with a notice stating the costume is currently in use for filming. Given that Supergirl, Clayface, and Lanterns are planned as live-action DCU projects for 2026, it’s probable that Corenswet’s Superman will appear in at least one of them.
What Does Superman’s Potential Cameo in Supergirl Mean for the DCU?

Although the new DC Universe has generally been praised, the recent finale of Peacemaker Season 2 caused some disagreement among fans. Many were disappointed, feeling the episode prioritized setting up future stories over delivering a strong ending to the season. This was made worse by the fact that the finale didn’t include a major surprise appearance, which viewers had begun to anticipate from superhero shows. If reports are accurate that Superman will appear in Supergirl, it suggests DC Studios is trying to fix these issues and give fans what they want.
Bringing Superman onto Supergirl would be a fantastic surprise, especially for fans disappointed with the Peacemaker finale. Even better, a few well-placed scenes with Superman could seamlessly link Supergirl to the upcoming Man of Tomorrow movie, creating a stronger connection between the shows and film.
The recent finale of Peacemaker introduced the planet Salvation, which will likely be important for future DC Universe stories. A brief appearance by Superman could connect this new plotline and help make the DCU feel more unified. Showing a closer relationship between Superman and Supergirl, building on her introduction in Superman, would create a stronger foundation for their future interactions. This would not only benefit Supergirl but also improve the overall story of the DC Universe.
Supergirl is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 26, 2026.
