But recent Source updates point to a new TF project in the works right now!
New Team Fortress Being Made
It has been observed by user X, who follows Gabe, that within the code, there exists a project called TF. This code was utilized to transfer assets from the initial source (source 1) to the secondary source (source 2). Additionally, a resource compiler, which is a collection of tools for level editing, was employed in this process. Interestingly, references to projects associated with TF have recently been discovered within an update for CS2!
Recently, I stumbled upon an intriguing discovery: Back in approximately three months, a clandestine project referred to as “TF” surfaced within the “resourcecompiler.dll” file of Source 2. This strongly suggests that we’re dealing with a game tailored specifically for Team Fortress, which could potentially be a new installment in the series. While not completely definitive, this is reminiscent of how Half-Life: Alyx, also known as HLVR, was developed.
It could be an unconnected topic using ‘TF’ as a label, but for clarity, it might be more appropriate to assume a working title related to Team Fortress that is yet to be fully developed.
As a devoted gamer, I’ve got to admit, some intriguing clues are floating around that might hint at a potential new Team Fortress venture. Now, I’m not jumping the gun here, but it sure does seem fishy! It’s also worth noting that if we consider Valve’s past project timelines, this could very well be in line with their usual development schedule. And let me tell you, the TF2 team has been working tirelessly on recent and forthcoming updates for the game. So, while it’s not a confirmed announcement yet, there are certainly some compelling signs pointing towards something exciting in the pipeline!
Preparation suggests that the team has something major in store for us in the near future. For instance, they’ve recently introduced a community map collection and are set to release the ManVsMachine update soon, among other developments.
It appears that the modifications to the source code engine suggest the game is progressing well in its development phase. The extensive updates to the engine, particularly those concerning decals, imply that whoever is working on this project, namely Valve, seem quite dedicated.
It appears that not just the current situation, but also recent Deadlock updates and occurrences hint towards the development of a new game.
Deadlocked Out Of The Intel Room
Initially, there were whispers that Deadlocked was under production, which sparked a wave of intrigue and speculation. However, as events unfolded, these rumors proved to be accurate. We even stumbled upon some of the earliest versions of Deadlocked, making it appear similar to a game mode within Gmod.
Despite its initial oddity as it progressed, this was the recurring pattern we observed. In 2024, Deadlock began a personal playlist which became public due to unauthorized listeners. Valve opted to allow everyone on board before completing the project, and they’ve maintained that open-door policy ever since.
If the speculation is true and this indeed is a fresh installment of Team Fortress, we might anticipate a strategy akin to its predecessors. Remarkably, Deadlock has garnered significant popularity despite being an unfinished product, even surpassing some well-known games in terms of recognition.
Hypothetically speaking, it might be possible to encounter an Alpha test version of both the Heavy and Scout classes online. This scenario could potentially expand beyond its original, restricted parameters – much like an exclusive event growing unexpectedly.
Conversely, given TF’s endurance, it may not be necessary to look for alternatives initially. Nevertheless, many enthusiasts and gamers continue to opt for launching 2Fort over other team-based shooting games.
