The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is entering a new phase following the recent merger of Skydance and Paramount. Fans have been eager to learn about the future of the Turtles, and some details have now been revealed. A new animated series is in the works, but it appears to be different from what many fans were hoping for.
Paramount has revealed its plans for expanding the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe this year, including a new animated series coming to YouTube (according to Variety). The series will feature 30 CG-animated episodes, each about 4 minutes long, and will focus on the turtles – Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo – as children. While a new series is usually exciting, many fans were disappointed when Paramount cancelled the previous Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and might have preferred to see that show continue instead.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Franchise Is Getting Even Bigger in 2026

Beyond the new animated series on YouTube, there are much larger plans for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe in 2026. These plans include a novel based on the popular storyline, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, and possibilities for expanding the story further in comic books.
Nickelodeon is also aiming to appeal to younger fans with a new middle-grade illustrated novel called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splinter’s Dojo, published by Scholastic. The book imagines the Turtles attending middle school, and it will be available in September. You can see the cover art above.
IDW Publishing continues to release popular comic books, and they’ve hinted at even more to come this year. That includes the ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, plus new stories set in The Last Ronin world and further adventures based on the classic 1990s animated series.
Fans disappointed by the end of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series can still enjoy the story! The comic book series inspired by the show will continue after the final episode airs.
As a huge TMNT fan, I’m really excited for what’s coming! We’re getting a re-release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze in theaters from March 13th to 19th, which is awesome. And even better, they’re already planning another sequel to Mutant Mayhem for next year, following how well the first one did. Can’t wait!
According to Paramount’s Josh Silverman, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ is beloved by fans around the world because it’s exciting, funny, and heartwarming, with strong relationships at its core. The franchise allows people to connect with the Turtles through movies, toys, costumes, books, and more, leaving a lasting mark on both individual lives and pop culture as a whole. New products and experiences will continue to expand the Turtles’ reach and connect with audiences of all ages.
