The release of the new Terminator game, Terminator 2D: No Fate, has been delayed again. It was first expected in early September, but the 2D action game – inspired by the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day – was moved to October because of problems with the physical copies. Now, even that October release date won’t work, and the game has been pushed back a few more weeks.
Publisher Reef Entertainment has announced that Terminator 2D: No Fate will now be released on November 26, 2025. The game was originally scheduled for October 31st, meaning the delay is just under a month. Reef Entertainment explained that the physical copies of Terminator 2D are taking longer to ship than expected. Instead of releasing the game digitally first, the company has decided to postpone all versions so that both the digital and physical editions can launch at the same time.
Reef Entertainment explained that this change in schedule is because of continuing shifts in global trade and tariffs, which caused delays in getting the parts needed for our Day One and Collector’s Editions. Since we want to release all versions at the same time, this new date now applies to both the physical copies and digital downloads, everywhere in the world. We really appreciate your patience and understanding, and we apologize for the additional wait. The team is working hard to ensure the game is worth waiting for, and we’re excited to share Terminator 2D: No Fate with everyone this November.”
Terminator 2D Looks Fantastic So Far
It may seem unusual that a new Terminator game is coming out in 2025, particularly one inspired by a film from 1989, but the early looks at Terminator 2D: No Fate have been incredibly promising. Reef Entertainment and Bitmap Bureau appear to have successfully recreated the feel of classic SNES and Sega Genesis games with No Fate, while updating the experience for today’s players. The game features 15 distinct levels where players can take control of Sarah Connor, John Connor, and the Terminator himself, all based on iconic scenes from Judgment Day.
Whether Terminator 2D: No Fate will be a success is still uncertain, but so far, everything we’ve seen looks excellent. Let’s hope it can recapture the magic of the Terminator movies, which haven’t had a new installment since 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate.
