Matthew McConaughey is in trouble in a new trailer for The Rivals of Amziah King.

The Rivals of Amziah King is a crime drama taking place in Oklahoma. It centers around Amziah, a beekeeper and honey farm owner, whose life is complicated when his long-lost foster daughter reappears. As he tries to rebuild their relationship, Amziah also has to protect his business from competitors who are trying to ruin him.

The first trailer for the new drama thriller, The Rivals of Amziah King, is out now, offering a sneak peek at the film directed by Andrew Patterson. Matthew McConaughey stars as Amziah King, and Angelina LookingGlass plays Kateri in the story, which unfolds in a small Oklahoma town and involves themes of betrayal, conflict, and—surprisingly—honey theft, all set to a compelling soundtrack.

The preview focuses on McConaughey’s character, Amziah, a beekeeper who runs a thriving honey business and also leads a local bluegrass band with some interesting characters. It shows that Amziah is a well-liked and respected figure in his town.

I just saw the trailer, and it looks like LookingGlass is Amziah’s long-lost foster daughter, and she’s suddenly back in his life after being gone for years. They’re a little awkward with each other at first, but he immediately offers her a job at his honey company, which seems like he’s hoping they can reconnect. We also get a glimpse of her getting used to being back and learning the ropes of the family business.

The story starts out touching, but takes a dark turn when a large quantity of honey is stolen. This disrupts Amziah’s work, and he sets out to find the culprit. The trailer shows the increasing stress as Amziah and LookingGlass team up to track down the thieves.

Alongside Matthew McConaughey and LookingGlass, The Rivals of Amziah King features a strong supporting cast including Cole Sprouse, Jake Horowitz, Tony Revolori, and Kurt Russell. David Heyman, Teddy Schwarzman, Jeffrey Clifford, Michael Heimler, James Montague, and Will Greenfield are producing the film.

Before becoming widely available in theaters on August 21st, 2026, The Rivals of Amziah King will have a limited showing starting August 14th, 2026, courtesy of Black Bear Productions.
