A director at Naughty Dog may have hinted at a new Uncharted game. The popular PlayStation series hasn’t had a major new installment since Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End came out in 2016. While Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was released in 2017, PlayStation hasn’t announced a new Uncharted adventure until now. This recent hint could be the first sign that another game is being developed, which is exciting news for fans who have been waiting for a return to the series.
Naughty Dog director Shaun Escayg recently shared a photo on Instagram with the caption “research.” The picture showed a landscape featuring a beach, city, and wooded area, with an old cannon in the foreground. While Escayg didn’t explain what he was researching, fans immediately noticed the scenery resembled locations from the Uncharted series. This has led many to speculate that Naughty Dog might be working on a new Uncharted game.

This Uncharted Revival Would Make Perfect Sense

If Shawn Escayg’s recent hint points to a new Uncharted game, it would fit perfectly. He previously directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and, after leaving Naughty Dog, returned in 2021 to work on a secret project. Considering his experience with the series, it makes sense that Naughty Dog would choose him to lead a new Uncharted installment.
Uncharted is still one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises, so it’s surprising it hasn’t had a new game in almost ten years. Right now, Naughty Dog is developing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, expected in 2027. However, a future Uncharted game is also a possibility and would be a valuable addition to PlayStation’s exclusive games in the coming years.
