New Undead Unluck Trailer Hypes Anime’s Comeback Ahead of Christmas Premiere

The anime series Undead Unluck is returning with new episodes just in time for the holidays! A new trailer and poster have been released to celebrate its upcoming premiere. While Undead Unluck, created by Yoshifumi Tozuka, may not be the most well-known series from Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, it has a dedicated fanbase eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story after the first season ended. With the manga recently concluding, fans will be happy to know the anime’s return is happening soon.

The anime series Undead Unluck is returning in December with a new story not found in the original manga, and details have been scarce – until now. A new poster and trailer have just been released, giving fans a first look at what’s in store. The trailer also features a preview of the theme songs, “01” and “02,” performed by the band Queen Bee. You can watch it all below!

What to Know for Undead Unluck Winter Arc

The special winter episode of Undead Unluck will premiere in Japan on December 25th. International release dates haven’t been announced yet. This hour-long episode features an original story and new characters created by Yoshifumi Tozuka, going beyond the content of the manga. Kensho Ono joins the cast as Tella, and Takehito Koyasu voices Balance, a completely new creature introduced in this special.

A new special is in the works, but it won’t be exactly like the first season of the anime. While some key staff members are returning – Yamato Haishima is writing the script, Hideyuki Morioka and Shun’ichi Ishimoto are designing the characters, and Kenichiro Suehiro is composing the music – the studio behind the original, David Production, is only offering guidance this time. A new director, though someone familiar with the project, is taking the lead.

Is Undead Unluck Getting a Season 2?

Sunghoo Park, known for directing the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen, is directing the Undead Unluck Winter Arc. Park later founded his own studio, E&H Production, which has since created several popular projects. These include the somewhat controversial but renewed series Ninja Kamui (with Adult Swim) and the adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation.

The show moving to a different studio could delay a second season of Undead Unluck. David Production is currently focused on new seasons of Fire Force and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, meaning it will likely be some time before Undead Unluck returns. However, this could change after the upcoming special airs later this year, so fans should stay tuned for updates.
