New Vampire Survivors Game is an Instant Hint & Devs Confirm There’s More to Come

The incredibly popular indie game Vampire Survivors continues to be a hit on Steam and other platforms since its release in 2022. Fans were excited when developer Poncle announced a new game in the Vampire Survivors world, Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard, which launched on April 21st. Despite a crowded market for deckbuilding games, players are already enjoying it, and Poncle has confirmed that even more Vampire Survivors content is coming soon.

So, Vampire Crawlers is the first brand new game since Vampire Survivors blew up, but honestly, Poncle hasn’t stopped working on the original! Vampire Survivors still gets awesome updates – I mean, they’ve added content from Balatro and Castlevania! With Vampire Crawlers out and talk of another sequel already, it’s clear they’re not planning on slowing down. They just announced they’re working on a whopping 15 different projects, and that includes even more content for the game that started it all, Vampire Survivors.

Vampire Crawlers Matches Its Predecessor’s Overwhelmingly Positive Steam Rating Shortly After Launch

Even though it just launched yesterday, Vampire Crawlers is already performing well on Steam. The game is quickly approaching 30,000 players, which is impressive for a new indie title. This is particularly notable because it’s a card game entering a crowded market, especially after the popularity of Balatro. What’s more, players seem to be enjoying it – Vampire Crawlers has already earned the same “Overwhelmingly Positive” review score as Vampire Survivors.

With the release of new content for their hit game, the developers at Poncle have been discussing their success and future plans. They recently revealed to The Game Business podcast that Vampire Survivors has now been played by over 27 million people across all platforms. Poncle isn’t stopping there, though – they’re actively growing both the Vampire Survivors world and their overall brand. According to Chief Strategy Officer Matteo Sapio, the team is currently working on 15 different projects. While some reports initially mistook this to mean 15 new games, Poncle clarified that these “projects” encompass a range of content, including updates and downloadable content (DLC), not just entirely new titles.

So, it looks like the creator of Vampire Survivors, Poncle, is definitely working on more games! I’ve heard they’re making spin-offs of Vampire Survivors, like Vampire Crawlers, but also totally new games. They’re even taking the Vampire Survivors style of gameplay and putting it into other big franchises – the one we know about so far is Warhammer Survivors, which is set in the Warhammer universe and should be out this year. Pretty cool, right?

It sounds like players can look forward to continued free updates and downloadable content for Vampire Survivors, plus new games with a similar fast-paced, bullet-hell style created with Poncle. However, Poncle isn’t just focusing on Vampire Survivors; they’re also developing completely new games, which I’m excited to learn more about soon. Right now, fans can enjoy a fresh take on the game with a new deckbuilding element.

You can play Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard on PC (through Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. It costs $9.99, and is included with Xbox Game Pass at launch.
