Vin Diesel is known for his work in Hollywood and even as a singer, but many people don’t realize he’s also involved in video games. He founded Tigon Studios, a game development company linked to his film production business. While some of their games are based on his movies, like the Riddick series, they’ve also created original titles, including Wheelman for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Though long-awaited, his newest game still has some time before it’s released.
Vin Diesel stepped away from video games in the late 2000s, even though his last Riddick game was a hit. But in 2020, he announced he’d be in Ark II, a sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved, and would also help produce the game. He even signed on to star in an animated series, which quietly launched in 2024 without much promotion. Fans have been wondering about the progress of Ark II since it was first announced five years ago, and now we’re starting to get some news.
Ark II Is Releasing in 2028, But Vin Diesel’s Role May Not Be As Big As We Thought
In a recent interview with Epic Games Store, the developers of Ark II shared updates about the game’s progress and expected release date. Studio Wildcard co-founder Jeremy Stieglitz said they’re aiming for a 2028 launch, but warned fans not to get ahead of themselves regarding Vin Diesel’s involvement. While they have a grand story planned, its execution depends on Diesel’s schedule and how much time he can dedicate to the project.
Stieglitz questioned how much of a contribution they would receive from this individual. He explained that it’s unclear how consistently they’ll perform – whether it will be for a single day, several days, or just a few hours. He believes the extent of their performance will heavily influence the overall outcome. They’ve planned different approaches depending on how much they get from this person – a full commitment warrants one strategy, while limited involvement requires another.
Okay, so it’s kinda weird. Apparently, Vin Diesel hasn’t actually recorded any lines for Ark II yet, but he still says he’s a fan, which is…something. They’re saying he’ll be in the game somehow, but we’re all wondering just how big his part will be. And honestly, the whole thing is confusing because they announced Ark II way back in 2022 with a 2023 release date! Now it’s looking like it’s been delayed by five years – a game that was supposedly only a year away at one point. That’s a long time to wait!
