With the major updates in Season 10 of *New World: Aeternum*, expect a shake-up in the most effective weapons for both player-versus-environment (PvE) and player-versus-player (PvP) combat. The usual top choices might not be the best anymore!
The way you get and improve your gear has been completely overhauled this season. There’s a ton of new benefits to discover, and some of them will really shake up how the game is played. It’s a major change to the overall strategy and playstyle.
This article highlights the five weapons we expect to be the most powerful and popular choices this season.
Top 5 Weapons for PvE/PvP in Season 10 | New World: Aeternum
Ranged Supremacy: Blunderbuss, Musket, and Bow Are Top 3
It looks like ranged weapons are definitely among the best – possibly even tied for first place! That includes the Blunderbuss, Musket, and Bow.
These characters are all highly effective together primarily because they all deal Thrust damage. This shared damage type allows them to benefit from the same upgrades and abilities. A great example is the ‘Thrust Harnessing’ perk, which boosts all Thrust damage, making each of them even stronger.
Additionally, ranged weapons can now benefit from the Close Quarters perk. This perk boosts their damage by as much as 20% when used against enemies within a 10-meter range.
The Blunderbuss is especially effective in close-quarters combat. Combining it with the Inferno Artifact makes it even more powerful, adding extra damage within a 15-meter radius.
These three weapons can also easily increase their damage in several ways, like with the ‘Trenchant Strikes’ ability. This ability can boost damage from heavy attacks by as much as 15%, and it’s especially effective when used with the Bow because of its long range.
For players who use bows, the Contagious Plague Artifact is going to be a must-have item – it’s incredibly powerful!
Okay, so this ability is *amazing*! If I land a direct hit with Poison, it doesn’t just do damage – it creates this swirling vortex that pulls all enemies nearby, within a 5-meter radius. Then, to top it off, it spawns a poison cloud that deals 25% of the target’s health as poison damage *every second* for a full 10 seconds, and it actually follows the enemy I hit directly! Seriously, it’s a game-changer.
Musket players will find the Lifetaker and Shrapnel Artifacts particularly useful. They’re adaptable to all game modes – both player-versus-environment and player-versus-player – making any challenge manageable.
These three ranged weapons are now significantly more powerful thanks to several excellent new perks. This will greatly increase their damage output, making them a top choice for both player-versus-environment and player-versus-player combat.
Void Gauntlet | Snowball Potential and Utility
The Void Gauntlet seems like it will be a very powerful weapon, largely due to its Nullifying Oblivion II ability.
This ability lets you remove temporary positive effects from enemies with Oblivion, while also making any negative effects last longer – up to 30% longer! Plus, Oblivion will still give you and your teammates the usual boost to attack power.
Just a quick note: Damage over time effects (like poisons or burns) in New World are considered debuffs. This means the Nullifying Oblivion skill will actually *increase* how long they last, boosting your overall damage output.
The Void Gauntlet is a powerful weapon that can quickly help you win battles. Just one of its abilities, Nullifying Oblivion, can immediately put you ahead, and it offers many other benefits as well.
Beyond the main benefits, the Void Gauntlet also offers strong perks like Putrefying Scream II and Sundering Essence II. These can significantly reduce an enemy’s ability to heal or protect themselves.
Overall, Void Gauntlets appear to be very effective, particularly for supporting your team and changing the course of battles. They can quickly help you regain an advantage in a fight.
Flail | Incredible Burst Damage
The Flail is shaping up to be one of the strongest weapons, now capable of dealing massive damage quickly. This is thanks to recent overall improvements, including the Inferno Artifact buff, but the Flail itself has also received specific upgrades.
Honestly, the best part of this update for me is the Powerful Eruption II perk. It basically makes your Eruption ability hit *way* harder – up to 16% more damage for every Impairment stack you get on an enemy. It’s a huge damage boost!
Being able to stack the Impairment effect up to three times significantly increases the damage output of both Eruption and the Flail overall.
Okay, so when you start thinking about how abilities work together – like using Trip followed by Eruption – getting a powerful Eruption off shouldn’t be *too* hard, even when you’re battling other players. It’s actually pretty manageable when you set it up right.
The Flail is shaping up to be a powerful weapon in Season 10, capable of quickly defeating enemies with its high damage output. If you enjoy a fast-paced, aggressive playstyle, we highly recommend giving it a try!
Here are our picks for the top 5 weapons in New World: Aeternum for both PvE and PvP in Season 10! Keep in mind that the season is brand new, so these are just our initial thoughts. We’ll have to see how the best strategies evolve as the season progresses.
