As a big Xbox fan, I was so excited to hear about Project Helix, their next console! It sounds like Microsoft has been quietly working on something new for over a decade, even though the Xbox Series X and S haven’t sold as well as they’d hoped. The good news is, they’re definitely staying in the console game! From what I’ve read, Project Helix isn’t just an upgrade – it’s going to be a really different kind of Xbox, and they’ve been constantly improving the idea for ten years or more. It’s a really promising sign for the future!
I remember reading way back in 2016 that Microsoft was working on something called Project Helix – basically trying to blend the Xbox and Windows worlds together. It didn’t quite pan out with the Xbox Series X and S launch in 2020, but it was clear the idea wasn’t dead. Now, it looks like Microsoft is finally showing us what Project Helix was all about – it’s their next-generation console!
When Xbox recently revealed Project Helix, former Xbox executive Mike Ybarra hinted it wasn’t a new concept, simply stating, “It’s back.” This suggests Xbox’s push into the PC gaming market isn’t a reactive move, but a long-term goal the company has been planning for some time.
Project Helix Has Surely Changed a Lot

Microsoft has been exploring the idea behind Project Helix for about a decade, but the actual hardware has probably evolved significantly. Originally, the project seems to have been paused in favor of developing the Xbox Series X and S. However, in the last two years, Microsoft has refocused on Helix as it plans for the future of its consoles.
As a huge Xbox fan, I’m really excited about Project Helix, but right now, details are still pretty scarce! We don’t know how much it’s going to cost or when it will actually come out. The latest buzz says it might be released in 2027, which would mean we could hopefully hear more official news later this year. And you can be sure I’ll be checking ComicBook to keep you all updated as soon as I find out anything new!
