New Xbox Game Now Verified on Steam Deck

A recently announced Xbox Game Studios game has been officially “Certified” on Steam Deck. This signifies that Valve has run tests on the handheld PC to confirm the game runs smoothly and optimally with both its built-in screen and controls. Earlier, while playable, the game was not certified. It’s important to note that the specific game in question is still accessible through Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, which means it’s not yet fully released.

To clarify, the game at hand is Towerborne, developed by Stoic (a team previously from BioWare) and published by Xbox Game Studios. If the name Stoic isn’t familiar, they are the team behind the Banner Saga series.

Since September 10, 2024, Towerborne has been playable on Steam and PC via Early Access, but only recently made its debut on Xbox consoles through Xbox Game Preview. Unlike the strategy RPG series, Banner Saga, Towerborne is a unique blend of looter brawler, merging side-scrolling combat with an action-RPG loot system. However, it hasn’t garnered the same level of acclaim as the critically-adored Banner Saga series. As it has not been officially released yet, it doesn’t have a Metacritic score; on Steam, it boasts a 76% approval rating from 808 user reviews. On the Xbox Store, it averages approximately 3 out of 5 stars.

As a reborn Ace, equipped with unique abilities, resilience, and ambition, you find yourself in Towerborne, a groundbreaking Looter Brawler that seamlessly blends side-scrolling combat with deep action RPG loot advancement and endless customization. Band together with fellow Aces to protect the Belfry, humanity’s final sanctuary, from the ominous forces threatening its boundaries. Can you rise up and be the Ace humankind needs for survival? Journey, battle, and grow stronger – united.

Currently, it typically takes around two dozen hours to complete Towerborne. However, please bear in mind that this version is still in development, so anything you experience might be altered or improved as the game progresses.
