The new free-to-play game Superball, available on Xbox through Game Pass, is facing criticism. Instead of being an enjoyable, futuristic sports game, many players are getting disconnected from matches or temporarily banned simply for scoring or earning achievements, leading to widespread frustration.
Superball, a fast-paced 3v3 action sports game blending football with unique characters and special powers, was released on October 28, 2025. Developed by Pathea Games and published by Logoi Games, the game emphasizes competition, offers several game modes, and includes full achievement support. However, it’s the achievements themselves that are currently causing problems for players.
Soon after the game launched, the official Superball subreddit was flooded with reports of a frustrating problem. Players were being unexpectedly kicked back to the main menu right after scoring or completing an objective, and then temporarily prevented from joining new matches. Many suspected the game was incorrectly identifying normal gameplay as cheating and automatically banning them. As more players shared their experiences, it became obvious this wasn’t just happening to a few people – it was a widespread issue.
After receiving numerous complaints, the game developers explained on Reddit that they were fixing a problem with their systems that were incorrectly banning players. They confirmed the fix was completed, and said the systems causing the false bans had been corrected.
Unfortunately, problems continued. Following the fix, some players reported that their game progress had been reset – they were missing achievements, their stats had been wiped, or their accounts had reverted to a previous state. While the bans were resolved, these reports of lost progress added to players’ frustration and concerns about the game’s reliability.
The problems with the launch of Superball demonstrate how delicate it is to run a live-service game. Games should reward players for their effort, but glitches in reward and progress systems can cause frustration and erode trust. This is especially damaging for competitive games where keeping up momentum is key.
Now that the game has been updated, players should be able to play without issues. Anyone experiencing missing progress or strange behavior is encouraged to contact support or share their feedback on the official subreddit. The developers have been quick to address problems, but the community is still wary after the initial difficulties.
Although Superball had a difficult launch, it’s looking much better now. The technical problems seem to be resolved, making it a good time to try the game if you have Xbox Game Pass. It’s still a good idea to monitor your game progress to ensure everything is working correctly. Players can now expect a smoother experience and achievements that unlock as intended. The developers have addressed the initial issues, but some are still verifying their in-game data.
