Xbox Game Pass just got a fantastic addition for fans of classic Japanese role-playing games! Game Pass has been delivering a lot of great titles lately, including popular games like Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, Star Wars Outlaws, and The Talos Principle 2. And now, to start February off right, a truly legendary RPG from 38 years ago is available on the service.
Today, Final Fantasy II is now available with Xbox Game Pass! Originally released in Japan in 1988, it came out a year after the first Final Fantasy and is considered a key game in the series. While some players find its battle system unique, it also introduced many elements that are still found in modern Final Fantasy games. The good news is you don’t need a specific Game Pass tier to play – it’s available with Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass.
This Series Keeps Coming to Game Pass
Following the successful addition of the original Final Fantasy to Xbox Game Pass in January, Final Fantasy II is now also available. The first game quickly became very popular with subscribers, even ranking as one of the most-played games on the service for a while. Because of this, Final Fantasy II is expected to be equally well-received.
If you’re hesitant to try a game as old as Final Fantasy II, keep in mind that the version on Game Pass is the Pixel Remaster. Square Enix updated many of the classic Final Fantasy games with improved graphics and features for modern devices, releasing this version on Xbox in 2024. While Final Fantasy II will still feel a bit old-fashioned in places, this is probably the best way to experience it yet.
