Xbox Game Pass recently added two new games, but subscribers on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC aren’t happy about it. The price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – the most popular plan that includes new games on day one – increased from $20 to $30 a month back in October. Many people were frustrated with the price increase, and things haven’t gotten better since. Subscribers are now paying an extra $120 a year for the same level of service, and with fewer new game releases lately, the value actually seems to have decreased.
While 2026 promises exciting games for Xbox Game Pass members – including a highly anticipated open-world RPG – January’s releases have been a bit disappointing, with Death Stranding being the standout title. To address this, two new games, ANNO: Mutationem and Drop Duchy, were added yesterday to the Ultimate and Premium tiers on both console and PC. However, many subscribers voiced their concerns in the comments, questioning whether the service is currently worth the cost.
“Do You Expect People to Pay $30 For This?”

One commenter expressed disbelief at the price, writing, “Are you really expecting people to pay $30 for this?” Another questioned the value, asking, “$30 a month for a mobile game?”
One commenter stated that Game Pass no longer offers good value, and that Forza Horizon 6 will likely be the last game they purchase from an Xbox studio.
Over the past few months, a common feeling among Xbox Game Pass users has been growing. You can see this discussed everywhere online – on platforms like Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, wherever people are talking about the service. Sadly, the recent $10 price increase wasn’t intended to fund improvements to Game Pass. Instead, it’s meant to offset rising costs due to inflation and game development, and to keep the subscription service financially viable as it isn’t currently growing at a fast enough rate.
