New Xbox Report Claims Another Console Price Increase Is Coming

A recent report suggests that the price of Xbox Series X and S consoles could increase again. Xbox has raised prices on many of its products and services more than any other company this year. The consoles have already become more expensive twice in 2025, and the monthly cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate recently jumped to $30. Many Xbox fans are starting to find Microsoft’s prices too high, and it seems like these prices may not stay the same for much longer.

Tech analyst Moore’s Law Is Dead reports that Microsoft wasn’t prepared for the recent surge in RAM prices. Demand from the rapid growth of AI data centers worldwide has caused a significant increase in the cost of RAM over the last year. This has led to shortages, forcing other manufacturers to compete for limited supplies and pay more.

According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, Microsoft hasn’t secured enough RAM at older, lower prices, potentially putting Xbox at a disadvantage. Sony reportedly bought a large supply of RAM for the PS5 when prices were lower. This means Microsoft could face shortages of Xbox consoles and might have to increase hardware prices to cover rising manufacturing costs.

Host Tom explained that Microsoft hasn’t prepared for future demand. He warned that if anyone is still hoping to buy an Xbox at its current price, the price might increase or they could run out of stock completely. Tom says he’s heard from sources at Microsoft that these changes will impact the Xbox Series consoles very soon – likely in the near future.

Okay, so if Microsoft raised the price of the Xbox Series X and S again, things would get really tough for them, honestly. The Series X could easily jump to over $700, putting it right up there with the more expensive PS5 Pro. And the Series S, which is supposed to be the budget-friendly option, could end up costing $450 or even more. That would definitely make it harder for people to jump in.

This also raises questions about the potential cost of Microsoft’s next Xbox. Although it’s still likely several years away from release, a price tag of at least $1000 doesn’t seem far-fetched. While this is just an educated guess right now, it’s becoming clear that gaming will likely be more expensive in the next ten years than it has been in the past.
