A role-playing game originally released for Xbox One in 2018 has been updated and re-released on Xbox Series X. The new version features improved graphics, textures, and a smoother frame rate. While the original game was popular, it didn’t perform very well on the older console. The Series X version offers a significantly better experience. Fortunately, players who already own the Xbox One version will receive the upgraded Series X version at no cost, even though it’s been eight years since the initial release.
Warhorse Studios recently updated their 2018 medieval role-playing game, Kingdom Come Deliverance, for Xbox Series X and S. This isn’t just a simple update – it’s a significant improvement, almost like a remastered version. As a thank you to existing fans, anyone who previously bought the game on Xbox One can download it for free. This is excellent timing, especially since the sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, came out last year and was a standout RPG of 2025, quickly becoming a favorite on Xbox Series X.
Xbox Users Can Finally Play It
Fans often joke that the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance didn’t run very well on consoles, particularly when it first came out. Xbox players are happy that a new version is finally available that performs more like the PC version of the game.
Players are excited about this game finally coming to consoles. One commenter said they replayed it on PC and loved it, calling it fantastic. Another explained they stopped playing after just a few minutes because the graphics looked very poor before this update.
Fans are happily surprised the upgrade is free for those who already own the Xbox One version. One fan commented, “It’s great it’s free! If this were a Sony game, they’d likely charge current players $10 for it, remove the original version, and then sell the new one for $70.”
As one Xbox fan pointed out, even if you don’t already have the Xbox One version of this game – meaning you won’t get the new Xbox Series X version for free – it’s still affordable. The eight-year-old RPG is available for just $30.
