Things have been pretty calm in Pokemon Go lately, with no big events happening for a few days. That’s about to change! Players are getting ready for the first-ever Gigantamax Battle, featuring Gigantamax Pikachu! It officially arrives in Pokemon Go on March 28th, and will be the focus of a special event from 2 PM to 5 PM local time that day. Don’t let its size fool you – this Pikachu will be a tough opponent!
Gigantamax Pikachu will appear as a powerful boss in new, challenging 6-star Max Battles during the Max Battle Day event. These battles are designed for larger teams, so you’ll need help to defeat the giant Pikachu. If you win, you might even find a rare, shiny Pikachu, though it won’t be able to evolve. Here’s a guide to help you win these latest Max Battles in Pokemon Go.
Best Counters for Gigantamax Pikachu Max Battles in Pokemon Go

Gigantamax Pikachu is a powerful opponent in Max Battles, ranking at 6 stars. These battles usually require at least 10 players, and lobbies can hold up to 40. The more trainers you have, the simpler the fight will be. While using effective Pokémon can let you win with fewer players, it will still be a challenging battle.
Using the RSVP feature will help you get more people together to defeat this especially strong Pikachu. However, it’s still important to build a well-prepared team.
Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokémon, so Pokémon with Ground-type attacks are super effective against it in this battle. Keep in mind you’ll need to choose Ground-type Pokémon that can Dynamax in Pokémon Go, which narrows down your choices a little.
I highly recommend using a Dynamax Excadrill for this fight. It’s a top-tier attacker, especially with Ground-type moves and the ability to Dynamax. Dynamax Kingler is another good option, as it can learn Max Quake. If you choose Kingler, make sure its quick attack is a Ground-type move like Mud Shot.
If you need a Pokémon to heal your team, Blissey is the best choice. For strong defenders, consider Latios, Latias, or Grass-type Pokémon like Venusaur.
