Georgia McCann is on the road to recovery.
A prominent figure from the show “Next Gen NYC” is opening up publicly for the first time about a struggle with an eating disorder that dates back to her middle school years. She refers to this as a “strategy for dealing with problems” that didn’t work out well over a ten-year period.
McCann shared with People in an interview published on August 29 that they have struggled significantly with body dysmorphia, but their specific experience revolved around the need for control. The origins of their struggle can be traced back to eighth grade, a time marked by personal and familial challenges, hormonal changes, and feelings of depression. Amidst this chaos where they felt powerless over other aspects of their life, body dysmorphia offered a semblance of control, providing a focus during an otherwise uncontrollable period.
McCann mentioned that she experienced annual bouts, where she resorted to limiting her food consumption and inducing vomiting as a means to regulate her food consumption.
She stated that there wasn’t a single approach for control; instead, it encompassed various methods. Recounting her most recent experiences, she admitted to completely abstaining from food. In an unusual manner, she managed to condition both her mind and body to reject food, which made abstinence easier. Later, when she did eat, her stomach had significantly shrunk, so that after just five bites, she felt satiated. Thus, it formed a self-reinforcing cycle.
Ever since the Bravo series debuted this year, I found myself utterly captivated! Little did I know, my fascination would send me spiraling into an all-time high of my struggle with an eating disorder. It became alarmingly severe.
McCann described it as being the most intense experience he’d ever encountered. He explained that he was grappling with both depression and anxiety simultaneously, which robbed him of his desire to eat. Over a span of approximately two months, he shed an impressive 25 pounds, dropping down to just 88 pounds.
In June, she was given an urgent nudge (or reminder) regarding her health concerns, when a friend implored her to take action due to her worsening health condition.
According to McCann, she expressed concern by saying, ‘I’m truly terrified for you,’ while tears were streaming down her face. She emphasized her worry by stating, ‘I don’t want anything bad to happen to you.’ This conversation took place when McCann was at his thinnest.
As a devoted supporter, I found myself at a crossroads, influenced by my friend’s heartfelt entreaty and advice from my parents. It was then that I made the decision to reach out for professional guidance, marking a significant step towards addressing my concerns.
She acknowledged her feelings, expressing that she had grown weary of concealing and deceiving: “I was drained; exhausted from hiding, tired of pretending,” she confessed. “I found myself constantly making excuses when asked if I was alright. For instance, ‘I’m fine, it’s just that I haven’t felt like eating!’ But I could no longer sustain this charade.
The stay at the treatment center equipped the reality TV personality with the mental resources necessary for managing her eating disorder.
McCann stated that he needed to learn to embrace himself fully, which he calls ‘radical acceptance.’ This step has significantly changed his perspective on his body. He is incredibly proud of the progress he has made.

In more casual and conversational terms, one could say:
Brooks Marks didn’t grow up in the limelight, but rather strolled into it (dressed sharp in a custom tracksuit) when his mom, Meredith Marks, joined the cast of ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ while he was studying at NYU. Now, Brooks has ventured into fashion entrepreneurship and harbors ambitious aspirations. However, it seems his real knack lies in finding himself smack dab in the midst of drama, even though he publicly dislikes confrontation. As he turns 25, Brooks finds himself at a significant juncture: either breaking free from his mom’s influence or continuing to mediate family squabbles, complicated friendships, and an endless stream of responsibilities. Will he learn to prioritize himself or will the stress cause his famously calm demeanor to falter?
