PlayStation’s September 2025 State of Play event showcased trailers for many upcoming PlayStation 5 games, including highly anticipated titles like a remastered version of *Deus Ex* and a fresh look at *Saros* from House Marquee. A surprising announcement was that *Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024*, an Xbox game long rumored to be coming to PlayStation 5, will indeed be available on PS5, joining other Xbox titles like *Gears of War Reloaded* and *Forza Horizon 5* in making the jump to PlayStation.
The recent trailer at State of Play mainly confirmed that *Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024* is coming to PlayStation 5, as rumors suggested. We also found out it will be released later this year, specifically on December 8, 2025. The PlayStation Blog has since provided more details about what players can expect when *Flight Sim* launches.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PlayStation 5
The trailer primarily revealed the release date for *Flight Sim*. The PlayStation Blog also shared that the game is utilizing key PlayStation 5 features to enhance gameplay. Players will feel different speeds and surfaces through the adaptive triggers on the controller, and air traffic control communications will come directly through the controller’s speakers. The game also supports gyro controls, the lightbar, and a customizable touchpad. The development team is maximizing the use of the PS5 controller to create a more immersive experience.
This is the complete version of the Flight Sim experience. You can fly 125 different types of aircraft, from electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs) and helicopters to fighter jets and more. With over 100,000 airports and landing spots worldwide, you’re free to explore the globe. The PlayStation 5 version will even feature a new aircraft allowing players to fly faster than the speed of sound in Boom Supersonic’s XB-1 demonstrator.
Flight Sim 2024 includes a new career mode where players can progress through various aircraft types to become skilled virtual pilots. Plus, all future updates to the world and the simulation itself will be available at no cost. While a marketplace offers additional aircraft, airports, and content from creators, you won’t have to pay extra for the game’s essential features.
And there’s one more exciting addition! Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be playable on PlayStation VR2 in 2026. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, we expect to learn more soon. Best of all, it will be a free update for VR players, making it simple to jump into the experience.
When *Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024* releases on December 8th, 2025, you’ll finally be able to experience it. If you can’t wait, the Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, and Aviator Editions include early access starting December 3rd. Plus, everyone who preorders any version of the game will receive the iconic Northrop T38-A Talon aircraft, which both new and experienced pilots will enjoy.
