During interviews about the new ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, Xbox president Sarah Bond shared that Microsoft is developing a powerful, high-end Xbox console as part of its future plans. She described the system as both “very premium” and “very high-end” in a conversation with Mashable.
The interview with Bond largely focused on the ROG Xbox Ally, but he also discussed Microsoft’s plans for the future of Xbox. When asked about rumors that the next Xbox will combine PC gaming with a traditional console experience, Bond described it as a “very premium, very high-end curated experience.”
She explained that the ROG Ally and Ally X represent the ideas and technology they’re developing, but she didn’t want to reveal all the details just yet.
Sarah Bond also pointed out that Microsoft continues to innovate with its software. Regarding future exclusive games for Xbox, she suggested that the industry is moving away from focusing solely on them.
She explained that the most popular games, like Call of Duty, Minecraft, Fortnite, and Roblox, are accessible on many different platforms. This widespread availability is what truly builds gaming communities, as people want to connect and play together no matter what device their friends are using. She believes restricting games to a single store or device is outdated, and the ROG Xbox Ally, along with cloud gaming and PCs, offers another way to play with anyone, anywhere, complementing existing consoles.
Bond recently discussed Microsoft’s plans to continue developing products under the Xbox name. In an interview earlier this week, she explained that the company is working with AMD to create the chips that will power future Xbox consoles.
Bond stated that the company is definitely planning to create new products in the future. They are currently developing their next generation of hardware, including prototyping and design work. A partnership with AMD has already been announced to support this effort. The recent product release was seen as a chance to offer gamers more options alongside their upcoming hardware. The company is committed to listening to player and creator feedback and will continue to innovate based on demand.
Last week, she mentioned the secretive work happening in Microsoft Building 87, where the next Xbox consoles are being designed and tested. She explained that this area is highly confidential and rarely open to visitors, as it’s where the team is creating and prototyping the next generation of Xbox.
