NFL Star Keion White Shot in Ankle After Attending Super Bowl

Keion White is on the mend.

Shortly after going to the 2026 Super Bowl, a San Francisco 49ers defensive player was shot and hospitalized, the team reported.

The New England Patriots announced on February 9th that Keion White was shot in the ankle in San Francisco and is now having surgery at a local hospital. The team says they will share more information when available.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, White was shot on Mission Street around 4 a.m. Investigators found the shooting started with an argument, but they don’t think 27-year-old White was involved in it.

Police say an argument broke out inside a business between two groups of people, and someone then fired a gun, injuring a person. The shooter is still unknown, according to CBS Sports.

Police spokesperson Evan Semoffsky told The New York Times that officers are actively investigating and pursuing several leads.

While recovering, Keion also reminisced about Super Bowl Sunday, when the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 29-13. He shared a selfie taken inside Levi’s Stadium and a photo of the flyover during Charlie Puth’s performance of the national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

He shared a photo from Bad Bunny’s halftime show, which included unexpected appearances by Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal, Alix Earle, and Karol G. Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga also performed.

Lady Gaga expressed her gratitude to Benito for inviting her to participate in what she called a powerful, important, and meaningful performance. She shared on Instagram on February 9th that she felt honored to be involved, especially because of Benito’s kind nature and music.
