NFT activity on Telegram surged 400% in Q3 2024: Report

As a seasoned researcher with a keen interest in Web3 and NFTs, I find myself both captivated and intrigued by the burgeoning trend of these digital assets on Telegram. Having closely followed the development of this messaging app platform, it’s fascinating to witness the surge in NFT activity, particularly among gamers. The 400% increase in Q3 ’24 is a testament to the dynamic and engaging ecosystem that Telegram has managed to create.

With more and more Telegram users getting involved in Web3, there’s been a growing interest in non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are now becoming more popular within the Telegram platform.

Based on data from Helika, a provider of Web3 information, there was a 400% increase in NFT-related activities on the messaging platform Telegram during the third quarter of 2024.

As a researcher, I recently delved into Helika’s Q3 ’24 Telegram Games Report and discovered an intriguing trend. Initially, less than 200,000 unique wallets were transferring Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) daily within Telegram in July. However, by September, this figure had skyrocketed to over one million. This substantial increase underscores the growing interest and activity surrounding NFTs on the Telegram platform.

NFT usage grows on Telegram

Helika observed that players on the Telegram platform are quite dynamic, regularly buying, exchanging, and utilizing Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in their games. The organization expressed:

“Our data indicates that gamers on Telegram are not just creating wallets but are also actively engaging with NFTs, suggesting a dynamic and vibrant level of interaction within the ecosystem.”

Helika further mentioned that a total of three million active wallets were found in nine different Telegram-based games during the month of September.

Beyond their involvement with NFTs, players on Telegram have also been engaging in longer gameplay sessions. Data from Helika shows that the typical gaming session length per user has grown significantly, increasing from approximately 2.8 minutes in August to around 6.7 minutes at the start of October.

Helika attributed the growth to more immersive experiences offered by the platform.

Hamster Kombat to integrate NFTs

Among the widely played games on the messaging app, Telegram, one that has gained significant popularity is “Hamster Combat.” Following its debut, it quickly became a trend and currently boasts over 300 million active users.

On September 25th, the game announced their intentions to incorporate Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). This Web3 clicker game stated they would introduce new games within their platform and utilize NFTs as in-game items. In their roadmap for the rest of 2024 and 2025, they disclosed that they will incorporate NFTs into Season 2 starting from November.

On October 17th, the creators unveiled a trailer for the game’s second season. In this trailer, they gave fans a glimpse into a potential narrative where players might assume the role of CEOs running their own businesses. Hinting at the possibilities of the clicker game’s second season, Hamster Kombat suggests that gamers could experience simulating executive roles.
