Sadly, Nicholas Hoult doesn’t have any real-life superpowers to help him get to New York Comic Con, so he won’t be able to attend.
The actor known for his role on *Skins* and recently playing Lex Luthor in the new *Superman* movie with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, announced he couldn’t attend the event this year because of a recent injury.
He announced in a video posted to the NYCC Instagram account on October 6th that he unfortunately won’t be able to attend this time. He explained that he recently had knee surgery and is currently unable to walk or travel, so he had to cancel his appearance.
I was excited about this, and I apologize that I can’t make it. I hope you all have a great weekend, and I’m hoping to be able to join you soon.
The convention, running from October 9th to 12th, sent well wishes in a post, explaining that Nicholas Hoult unfortunately couldn’t attend. They wished him a quick recovery and expressed hope to see him at a future event.
The actor wasn’t originally scheduled to attend the event, but he feels his role as Superman’s enemy in the hit summer movie was definitely meant to be – even though he first tried out for the part of Superman himself, alongside David.
He told Today in June that he met David during auditions, and David was ultimately chosen to play Superman. He was immediately impressed, thinking, ‘This actor really *is* Superman – he has everything the role needs.’
He concluded that everything came together just right, and he’s now proud to watch the film as a viewer.
He described the movie as a heartwarming and emotional experience. He shared that after seeing it, he felt optimistic about people and inspired to make a positive impact, saying it left him hopeful for the future.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in *12 Years a Slave*, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids – non-cancerous growths in or around the womb – in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with the condition for over ten years.
She explained that growing up, people are often told that periods are supposed to be painful, and that this pain is just something women have to deal with. This leaves many of us feeling like we’re suffering in silence with something incredibly common.
In July 2025, the actress from *Daisy Jones & The Six* revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap to form in her abdominal muscles.
Okay, so Suki hasn’t posted on X (formerly Twitter) in *forever*, and it’s killing me! Seriously, I’m worried. Then, she finally tweeted… but it wasn’t what I expected. She basically asked why Suki’s been quiet, and then dropped this bomb: she says she wore pants so tight six months ago she got a hernia and has been too afraid to tell anyone! A hernia! And she’s worried about *me* thinking she’s ghosting? It’s… a lot. I’m so concerned, but also, those pants sound *intense*.

I was absolutely shocked watching the Racing Louisville game on September 14th. Their midfielder suddenly collapsed just minutes into the match against Seattle Reign at Lumen Field. It was a really scary moment, and I immediately worried about her well-being.
According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, just before collapsing. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.
After receiving initial treatment from medical staff at the game, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests. League officials reported she was in stable condition and fully conscious.
Adam Devine revealed that injuries from a childhood accident – he was hit by a cement truck when he was 11 – continue to bother him now.
“It’s been a really difficult time,” Devine shared on the *In Depth With Graham Bensinger* podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—within the last year, actually.”
He mentioned that his pain is intermittent, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite functioning as it should.

He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes, saying it was “crazy” in a March 2025 episode of his podcast, *Trading Secrets*. To give some context, he explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds. Now, he can’t even do a squat, struggles with single-leg squats, and often falls over, comparing the feeling to having a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

The former *Kim Possible* star shared that a small piece of something got stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, and they’ll be keeping a close watch on the situation, but thankfully their vision is currently normal.

She urged everyone to hug their loved ones often, emphasizing how quickly life can change.
Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often negative side, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” during interviews, she was surprised when doctors began commenting on her appearance online, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out changes in her face that concerned them. This led Amy to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section, which could be the cause. She wouldn’t have connected the injections to her symptoms without the online comments. Amy recently shared that she’s relieved to have a form of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own and that she’s healthy, calling it the best news she could have received.
During a game in December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut that required 25 stitches. His father, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald, shared with ESPN after his son’s full recovery, “We feel very fortunate. No parent should have to go through that.”
I was so scared when I heard about what happened to Hailey Bieber! Back in March 2022, she was having breakfast with Justin and suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms. She shared that Justin noticed something was wrong and asked if she was okay, but she couldn’t even respond. She couldn’t speak and the right side of her face started to droop – it must have been terrifying! Thankfully, it stopped and her speech came back, but she immediately went to the hospital to get checked out. They discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which doctors called a TIA. Later, they found out she had a small hole in her heart, a PFO, which is how the clot had gotten to her brain in the first place. She had a procedure to close the hole, and I’m so relieved to hear she’s feeling great now! It’s amazing how quickly things can change, and I’m just so glad she’s okay.
The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that temporarily paralyzed part of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected nerves in his ear and face, causing paralysis on one side. He showed fans he couldn’t blink, smile, or move his nostril on the affected side, and that it was becoming increasingly difficult to eat. Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away.
Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better. She described the situation as scary and unexpected, but expressed her relief that he was going to be okay.
Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, *What Had Happened Was…*, he explained that he suffered a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.
After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for extensive rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for all the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”
The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.
She shared on the show *Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser* that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. After that, she saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.
Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the show, she experienced a severe headache during a workout, followed by intense pain and vomiting. She quickly realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she struggled with aphasia, finding it difficult to speak coherently.
After a week, her speech returned, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month. However, a brain scan in 2013 revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This operation was unsuccessful, leading to a major bleed and a life-threatening situation. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia reports she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.

Thankfully, she is now recovering well. “I’m doing great,” she said, explaining she’s been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise feeling good.
Shailene Woodley struggled with her health throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, debilitating fatigue, and stomach problems. She saw many doctors, but received conflicting diagnoses.
Determined to find answers, Woodley, who has a background in herbalism, combined traditional medical care with alternative healing methods. This search for well-being lasted for ten years.
The actress shared that her physical discomfort led to anxieties around food and, eventually, issues with body image and identity. She described a period of confusion and feeling unsafe in her own body.
Fortunately, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now feeling much better and considers herself very healthy. She expressed gratitude for her recovery.
