Nick Jonas is a sucker for family time.
That’s why having his wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and their daughter, Malti Marie, appear in A Very Jonas Christmas Movie alongside his brothers, Joe and Kevin Jonas, made filming even more joyful.
At the movie premiere in New York City on November 10th, Nick explained to TopMob News that using actors other than his real family wouldn’t have felt genuine. He said having his actual family involved was crucial to the project’s atmosphere and authenticity.
He explained that the movie shows them as more dramatic versions of themselves, but it’s still based on real experiences and feelings.
Oh my gosh, you guys, the new movie, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, is EVERYTHING! It’s about Nick, Joe, and Kevin trying to get home for the holidays, but of course, it’s not easy! They’re finishing up their tour in London and have this crazy race against time to get back to the East Coast to be with their families. There are, like, totally hilarious travel problems and, you know, little brotherly arguments along the way, but it’s SO heartwarming! I’m already planning my tenth watch!
Nick Jonas had plenty of support on set from his family, and it wasn’t just his immediate group! Danielle Jonas, Kevin’s wife, and their daughters, Alena, 11, and Valentina, 9, all made their first appearances in a feature film with this Christmas movie. Joe Jonas’ daughters, Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3, who he shares with Sophie Turner, were not involved in the film.
Kevin shared with TopMob News that filming with his family was a wonderful experience. He explained that the movie’s first scene featured the entire family together, which helped kickstart the production with a lot of positive energy.
Nick felt it was crucial to capture the close relationship between the brothers and their roles as fathers in the film, so that both Jonas Brothers fans and a wider audience could truly connect with it.
Nick explained that Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who wrote and produced the movie with them, really made an effort to understand their story. They aimed to create something relatable and universal, so that families could connect with the film even if their own experiences weren’t exactly the same. That connection, Nick emphasized, was the most important thing to them.
A Very Jonas Christmas Movie premieres on Disney+ and Hulu Nov. 14.
