Nicole Kidman is sharing some huge truths about the making of Big Little Lies.

The Oscar-winning actress told her co-star, Alexander Skarsgård, what she needed before they filmed a kissing scene for their HBO show, explaining she wasn’t interested in kissing someone with bad breath.

Nicole Kidman remembered on the Las Culturistas podcast that before filming kissing scenes with Alexander Skarsgård for Big Little Lies, she playfully told him to stop eating a falafel sandwich. She explained she needed him to be someone she could believably be attracted to on screen and that the sandwich was a distraction.

She laughed, recalling the moment she’d playfully forbidden him from ever eating falafel again. “I told him, ‘Absolutely no more falafel! Not until you kiss me, not until we’re intimate. Put that falafel down!’”

Nicole Kidman said bad breath is a major turn-off, and it wasn’t just her lunch that made her think of it. The 58-year-old, who recently spoke publicly about her divorce from Keith Urban, explained that she considers bad breath a complete deal-breaker.

Let me tell you, as someone who’s seen it all, first impressions are everything. I’ve heard from so many people – and honestly, I totally agree – that even the most attractive person can be a turn-off if they’ve got bad breath. It’s a dealbreaker! I’ve had friends confess they’ve immediately shut down a potential connection over something like that, and it’s completely understandable. It’s just…a no from the start.

She went on, ‘If someone asked me to just breathe near me, and then I had to pull away, that would be a dealbreaker. I wouldn’t do it for any amount of money.’

Nicole Kidman, who has four children – Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Keith Urban, and Isabella Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30, with Tom Cruise – has a very sensitive sense of smell. She was actually glad when she lost her ability to smell temporarily after getting COVID-19.

“I was in a good way,” Nicole said with a laugh. “Finally I was free.”

So, who does she think is the best-smelling celebrity? Rihanna. 

Nicole jokingly confirmed the rumors about Rihanna always smelling amazing. She described the scent as captivating, saying it’s the kind of smell that makes you want to be near her constantly.

The reality star told The New York Times she’d consider almost any procedure to look younger, joking that she was open to trying anything.

She admitted in June that she’d even consider something drastic – like eating something truly unpleasant every day – if it meant looking younger. She emphasized she was serious, saying, ‘I just might.’

In a July 2022 interview with Allure magazine, Kim explained she was mostly kidding when she made the comment, but admitted it wasn’t a completely awful idea.

Kim thought for a moment and then said, ‘Honestly, I’d probably eat something awful if I believed it would make me look younger – even if it was a bowl of poop every day!’

She wasn’t sure how much she could eat. “Perhaps just a small taste,” she said. “I definitely couldn’t manage a full bowl.”

During an April 2025 interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer of “Save Me” shared a particularly embarrassing story, and didn’t hesitate to tell all the details.

“I pooped myself one time,” he admitted. “I did, I’m sorry.”

To be honest, Jelly Roll (whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord) didn’t intend to cause such serious harm.

He firmly believed it was just a harmless prank. “I sincerely apologize,” he said. “I saw the audience turn from supportive to completely against me.”
