Nicole, who has two daughters – 17-year-old Sunday Rose and 14-year-old Faith Margaret – with Keith, recently told Variety that Nashville is where she and her family belong. She’s lived there for 20 years and considers it home.

Nicole receives strong support from within her community, including from her neighbor and friend, Reese Witherspoon. The Lioness star mentioned she and Witherspoon had taken a long walk together the morning of her interview.

Nicole publicly spoke for the first time about her breakup with Keith, which happened in September after nearly two decades of marriage. She shared that she is doing okay.

I define myself by constantly striving for positivity,” she said thoughtfully. “I’m thankful for my family and keeping us all close as we move ahead. Beyond that, I prefer to keep things private out of respect for everyone involved.

Regarding her recent breakup and motherhood, the 58-year-old explained that she’s focusing on maintaining a family connection. She emphasized that despite the changes, they will always be a family, especially as her daughters are growing up so quickly.

She feels a significant shift between the past year and the coming year in her personal life.

She described 2025 as a time when she was withdrawn and preoccupied. Now, she feels ready to embrace 2026 with enthusiasm.

The Practical Magic actress later shared her hopes for the near future, comparing her personal life to her varied career. She enjoys working on all kinds of projects, from big studio films to smaller independent movies, TV shows, and short videos.

She believes in pushing boundaries, both professionally and personally. She’s decided this and the next few years will be dedicated to pursuing lifelong dreams and exploring new things, completely separate from her career. It’s about personal adventures and fulfilling what she’s always wanted to experience.

She truly means it – she just returned from a trip to Antarctica with Sunday and Faith in January.

I took a cruise with my sister, nieces, nephews, and a lot of friends,” she explained. “We met so many wonderful new people and saw penguins and sea lions. I’ve been working towards experiencing the world and connecting with different cultures since I was fourteen, and I’ve really enjoyed it.
