A trailer has just been released for ‘Scarpetta,’ the upcoming series inspired by Patricia Cornwell’s popular crime novels, which will premiere in one month.
Based on the novels, the series features Nicole Kidman as Dr. Kay Scarpetta. Jamie Lee Curtis plays her sister, Dorothy Farinelli, with Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, and Ariana DeBose as Kay’s niece, Lucy Farinelli Watson, who is skilled with technology.
The trailer establishes a dark and atmospheric mood for the show, and introduces its two storylines: one taking place in 1998 and another in 2026. It seems Kay’s newest investigation is connected to the very first case of her career.

The new series will debut on Prime Video on March 11, 2026. Nicole Kidman plays a determined medical examiner who is dedicated to giving victims a voice and stopping a serial killer. She’s also hoping to finally resolve a pivotal case from her past that could either make or break her career.
The show follows Kay Scarpetta as she revisits her past and present. It jumps between her early days as Chief Medical Examiner in the late 1990s and her return to her hometown, where she’s now investigating a disturbing murder while taking on her old job.
In her quest for justice, Scarpetta has to deal with difficult relationships, especially with her sister Dorothy, and overcome old resentments both at work and in her personal life. She also encounters secrets that could destroy everything she’s worked for.
