Nicole Kidman stars as “iconic literary character” in first look at star-studded detective thriller as release date confirmed

Prime Video has unveiled a first look at upcoming series Scarpetta.

New photos from the upcoming thriller reveal Nicole Kidman as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a medical examiner who investigates crimes, based on the popular novels by Patricia Cornwell.

The new Prime Video series launches on March 11th and tells a story across two different time periods. It follows Kay’s life, showing how she became a chief medical examiner in the late 1990s and then her return to her hometown to investigate a murder while taking on her old job.

The story follows Scarpetta as she seeks justice while dealing with difficult relationships, especially with her sister Dorothy. She also has to overcome old resentments and confront secrets that could destroy her life and career.

The series features Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, along with Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, and Ariana DeBose as Lucy Watson, Scarpetta’s niece.

Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish play the younger counterparts of Nicole Kidman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Joe Cannavale, and Jim Baker’s characters.

The television series Scarpetta was produced by a team including Nicole Kidman and Per Saari’s Blossom Films, Jamie Lee Curtis’s Comet Pictures, Liz Sarnoff’s Sarnoff TV, author Patricia Cornwell’s P & S Projects, and Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, and Chris McCumber of Blumhouse Television.

David Gordon Green helmed five episodes and also serves as executive producer alongside Amy Sayres.
