Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev aren’t wrestling over their parenting duties.
Following her divorce from the former professional dancer on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ in November, the WWE star acknowledged her ex-spouse’s adaptability regarding her wrestling duties while they co-parent their 5-year-old son Matteo.
During the September 4th episode of The Nikki and Brie Show on Sirius XM, Nikki, 41, praised Artem, saying he’s been fantastic in accommodating to her schedule,” Nikki said. “I see Matteo more often, and he’s simply amazing.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but gush over the praise Brie Garcia, Nikki’s twin, heaped upon the ex-couple they were discussing. She lauded them as “a stellar duo,” and honestly, who am I to argue? Nikki herself confirmed it, making me believe that this team is truly something special!
“We’ve adapted well and Matteo’s thriving,” she gushed. “I’m having so much fun.”
The recent development is quite a contrast to the state Nikki and Artem found themselves in following their dramatic split last year, triggered by Artem’s arrest under suspicion for a felony domestic violence case in August 2024 (though no charges were eventually brought against him).
Following the agreement, both parties having lifted their individual restraining orders, Nikki went on to discuss the emotional impact of their separation.
She shared on The Nikki and Brie Show in December that she had envisioned a wonderful family life filled with deep affection, but instead, her love story took an unexpected turn for the worse. She never anticipated the heartache that would follow or the tragic ending to their relationship. Essentially, it’s been a challenging period for her.
Luckily, by July, Nikki and Artem’s relationship seemed to be on the mend as she disclosed information regarding their custody agreement, following a curious inquiry about her time spent with Matteo on social media.
She shared on Instagram Stories that her son spends most of the week with her, especially Tuesdays when she picks him up after landing, and Sundays when she drops him off before leaving. Sometimes, she’s away for longer periods, but she and his father have a strong co-parenting system in place, and he understands how much she cares.

Despite ending their romantic relationship in 2023, the Grammy winner and Swedish-Syrian artist remain united as co-parents for their children, Lucia and Renn.
In an interview with Attitude in September 2025, Jwan shared that our relationship has been truly wonderful. It’s a stable and peaceful arrangement of co-parenting, as we live only 10 minutes apart. We often communicate every other day, and our love for our children is immense.
He remarked, ‘This has been such a wonderfully immersive and life-embracing encounter. It’s not just an experience; it feels like a lifestyle.’
Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green, who share children Noah, Bodhi, and Journey, have accumulated experience in co-parenting. They strive to follow a primary rule: ensuring that everything revolves around the wellbeing of their kids. As Brian explained to TopMob News in 2024, the most important aspect is always keeping the children’s experiences at the center.
Because a breakup will inevitably impact the children, according to Brian, the only choice is how it impacts them. A significant part of this, he continued, is understanding that it’s crucial to “pick your battles.” In his words, “The person you were with whom you’re now separated from, you guys are separated for a reason – because you didn’t get along. So, you can’t expect to then get along after the fact in raising your kids. Therefore, it’s not about us getting along anymore, it’s about us co-parenting, which is a completely different situation.”
Megan, whose divorce from Brian was finalized in 2022 two years after the filing, concurs.
On a 2023 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Megan emphasized that when people separate, it’s essential never to belittle or make passive-aggressive comments about the other parent. “I don’t let anything negative enter my energy when I’m around my kids,” she said. “If I don’t accept and love their father, I’m rejecting a part of them because he’s a part of who they are forever. He’s in their blood, and he’s in their psyche, and they exist because of him.
The actor from Safe Haven, Josh Duhamel, spoke about his ex-wife Fergie on Jess Cagle’s Show in 2023, praising her for her kindness and acceptance of his new wife, Audra Mari. He shared that Fergie has warmly welcomed Audra into their family, and expressed gratitude that their co-parenting relationship is amicable, considering it could be much more difficult. Fergie was also happy when Josh and Audra announced they were expecting their first child together, Shepherd, who was born in January 2024. The little one joined their older son Axl, whom Fergie shares with Josh from their time together in the Black Eyed Peas. Josh expressed his appreciation for Fergie’s good nature and expressed that she only has love for Audra and is excited about their new family expansion, despite their divorce being finalized in 2019, two years after they announced their separation.
Irina Shayk, who has daughter Lea with her former partner Bradley Cooper, doesn’t find the term ‘co-parenting’ particularly meaningful.
As she expressed to ELLE in 2021, “I never really understood the concept of co-parenting. When I’m with my daughter, I am a mother completely, and when she’s with her father, he is a hundred percent her dad. Co-parenting is simply parenting.”
Despite their separation in 2019 after four years together, Irina and Bradley have managed to maintain a friendly relationship. They’ve even taken family vacations together, spent time in New York, and supported each other since their breakup.
In an interview with the magazine in 2023, she expressed her admiration for Bradley as a father, stating, “He is the best father Lea and I could ever dream of. It works because we make it work.
According to Mariah Carey, patience is key when it comes to love, and that sentiment appears to hold true in co-parenting as well. However, Nick Cannon, who shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with Mariah, has mentioned that they’ve managed to establish a smooth routine.
On an episode of The Language of Love with Dr. Laura Berman in 2022, Cannon said, “Mariah and I co-parent very well. We’re really great friends. She’s taught me so much. That’s family.”
It seems that Mariah is proud of the progress she and Nick have made since their separation in 2014 and subsequent divorce. In 2019, she told People, “I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk.”
Beyond being the father of Moroccan and Monroe, Cannon has children Zion Mixolydian, Zillion Heir, Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; Golden “Sagon,” Powerful Queen, Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell, Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi, Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole, and Halo Marie, and the late Zen, with Alyssa Scott.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, when crafting advice on navigating family dynamics post-divorce, I can’t overlook the influential example set by Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. The Academy Award-winning actress and the frontman of Coldplay-parents to Apple Martin and Moses Martin-coined the term ‘conscious uncoupling’ when they announced their separation in 2014.
During an appearance on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ in 2020, Gwyneth shared her perspective: “Chris and I made a promise to prioritize our children, and that’s not as easy as it sounds. There are days when being with the person you’re divorcing feels far from appealing. However, if we commit to family dinner, we find a way to make it work-taking a deep breath, looking them in the eye, reminding ourselves of our pact, smiling, hugging, and sharing a laugh.”
Gwyneth also emphasized that she and Chris will forever remain a family: “This is the reality-we’ll have good days and bad days. But our shared goal is to foster unity, love, and what’s best for our children. We believe that just because we’ve separated doesn’t mean we can’t cherish the aspects of each other we once admired-that notion is untrue.
Following their divorce in 2022, Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady found themselves confronting a new set of challenges. In an interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts in 2024, Gisele, who shares children Benjamin and Vivian with Tom, expressed that while there were challenging days, the kids were adaptable and intelligent. She emphasized the importance of balance, explaining that both she and Tom spend time with their children, allowing them to experience two different worlds, which she believed was enriching for their lives. Tom, too, shared that he and Gisele are working together to raise their children in a loving and empathetic manner, instilling in them the right values as they navigate their unique upbringing.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: Ben Affleck, having played a superhero on screen, recognizes the real-life heroes he encounters. His ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, is one such hero in his book. Together they share the incredible responsibility of raising their children Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. In an interview with TopMob News back in 2016, Ben praised Jen as a “superhero mom.” He acknowledged her as an amazing mother, expressing gratitude for having her as his partner in co-parenting. According to him, they strive to prioritize their children’s needs above all else.
Even Jennifer Lopez, who was married to Ben from the 2000s before filing for divorce in 2024, concurred. In a previous interview with Vogue, she praised Jen as an “amazing co-parent” and stated that they work well together.
Despite their separation in 2021, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have managed to maintain a positive co-parenting relationship for the sake of their daughter, Khai. In a 2023 interview on Call Her Daddy, Zayn expressed that their relationship is beneficial for Khai as she is their top priority. When asked about advice for parents in similar situations, Gigi emphasized keeping the child’s happiness as the primary focus, stating that one spends a long life alongside this person. The fact that Khai can spend time with both parents brings great joy to Gigi.
Maintaining a cooperative parenting relationship with her ex, Tristan Thompson, is challenging for Khloe Kardashian, despite several cheating scandals in their past. In an interview with tmrw in January 2024, as reported by People, she admitted that it can be difficult to act cordial towards someone she’s angry with in front of her children. However, she emphasized the importance of keeping a positive attitude for the sake of their daughters True and Tatum Thompson, as well as Tristan’s other children Prince, from Jordan Craig, and son Theo, born to Maralee Nichols. Khloe expressed her desire for her kids to have strong bonds with their father, stating that she would not want to prevent him from being an active part of their lives if he chooses to be involved.
Although Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr split in 2013, they continue to share a cooperative parenting relationship regarding their son Flynn. This group also includes Orlando’s ex-partner Katy Perry, Miranda’s husband Evan Spiegel (the CEO of Snapchat), and they have found a way to make it work despite their busy schedules and growing families. Orlando and Katy are parents to Daisy Dove, while Miranda and Evan share sons Hart, Myles, and Pierre. In a 2020 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Miranda expressed her gratitude for Katy’s positive impact on Orlando and emphasized the importance of both parents being happy for Flynn’s sake. When significant events arise, they find ways to come together, prioritizing the well-being of their family.
Instead of a love fern, Kate Hudson believes that her friendly ties with exes Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy don’t have to fade away.
In an interview with The Sunday Times in 2022, the actress who starred in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days mentioned that Chris and she only need to keep in touch occasionally. Their son, Ryder, was born during their relationship.
Regarding Matt, father of her son Bingham, she expressed that he’s “exceptional-I couldn’t have hoped for a better co-parent.” She continued, “The love you felt for this person doesn’t simply vanish, but it can transform into a different kind of affection. You can enjoy an incredible time with an ex-partner because your focus is solely on the love for your child.”
Kate is also mother to daughter Rani, whom she shares with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. She added, “Our family structure may seem unconventional from the outside, but internally we’re thriving. The bond I’ve formed with three children from three different fathers is a robust and unique one, ours alone.
In a remarkable turn of events, Anna Faris, known for her roles in ‘The House Bunny’ and ‘Mom’, has shared that her relationship with ex-husband Chris Pratt, whom she shares son Jack, and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger has evolved positively. “We’re all getting much closer, and I so appreciate that,” Anna told People in 2022. She praised Katherine, who also shares daughters Lyla and Eloise with Chris and is expecting their third child, as “awesome”. Anna particularly admires Katherine’s relationship with Jack, expressing her affection for how she takes care of him. Anna, now married to cinematographer Michael Barrett, indicated that she is content with the way the extended family dynamics are unfolding, stating, “It feels just much easier now that time has passed. It feels really good to not live with that internal churning of unpleasantness.”
It’s beneficial when former partners who share child-rearing responsibilities agree on parenting approaches. Mel B acknowledges that it took some time for her and Eddie Murphy to establish such a harmonious relationship.
In May 2025, the Spice Girl recalled to Us Weekly how, given my previous difficulties with PTSD and coercive control, it proved challenging for my relationship with Eddie to grow in the circumstances I was in. However, I gradually managed to nurture it. Interestingly, Mel B shared that their friendship has thrived even more recently.
She added, “Angel is visiting [Murphy’s house]. They often spend time together and even go on vacations. He is a devoted father to his ten children.
Although The O.C may have been full of dramatic moments, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Rachel Bilson’s co-parenting relationship with Hayden Christensen must follow suit. Instead, everything seems to be going well for them, as Rachel shared with People in 2024: “Everything’s good,” she said. “Things are really peaceful between us. She (Briar Rose) is thriving so wonderfully and has support from all directions.
