During the second day of the Xbox Gamescom broadcast, Team Ninja and PlatinumGames showcased some fresh gameplay for Ninja Gaiden 4, primarily highlighting character Yakumo’s extensive arsenal of weapons. As we progress through the story, a pivotal point occurs when Yakumo infiltrates the headquarters of the Divine Dragon Order. Here, we delve deeper into the intriguing Assassin’s Tools.
In Bloodraven Form, these features resemble massive claw-like arms that are particularly effective at dismembering opponents, especially in conjunction with the oversized shurikens. Notably, other weapons displayed include a staff useful for confined spaces, a rapier that transforms into a giant drill, and dual blades, ideal for dealing with multiple adversaries.
In addition to his abilities, Yakumo can hurl explosives to lift adversaries into the sky, which you can chain with the iconic Izuna Drop move. Similarly, the mid-air Guillotine Throw from Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, used to toss enemies at each other, is also back in action. As for the downtime between fights, you’ll navigate under and over laser barriers, travel along rails, and complete missions with distinct objectives within the shrine. At a certain point during the gameplay, Yakumo will deploy a wingsuit to soar through a particular section.
In addition, we gained some insight into the reasons behind Ryu Hayabusa’s animosity towards Yakumo. It appears that Yakumo isn’t merely aiming to vanquish the Dark Dragon; instead, he and his allies aspire to awaken it, a goal that clashes with Ryu and the Divine Dragon Order who strive to prevent such an occurrence. Given these opposing interests, a confrontation seems unavoidable.
