Nintendo Announces Another Presentation, And It’s Happening This Week

Hey there fellow gamers! Guess what? Last week, Nintendo unveiled some of its future plans for 2025 and beyond during a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. And it looks like they’re not done yet! A new presentation has been announced, and it’s happening later this week. On Thursday, August 7th at 6 a.m. PT, we’ll be treated to an Indie World showcase streaming live on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel. This 15-minute event will give us a peek at games coming to both the original Switch and the upcoming Switch 2! Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us!

Because the upcoming broadcast isn’t a complete Nintendo Direct, spectators shouldn’t anticipate viewing any of Nintendo’s exclusive games during the stream. However, even though popular series like Mario and Zelda may not appear in the Indie World show, there are still plenty of intriguing prospects to look forward to. Some notable games I was hoping to catch a glimpse of during last week’s Partner Showcase were missing from the event.

One suggestion I brought up in that article was “Hollow Knight: Silksong,” the long-awaited sequel to the original “Hollow Knight.” For years now, fans have eagerly awaited news about this game, and their patience is wearing thin. However, there’s hope on the horizon. We can confirm that “Silksong” will be playable at Gamescom later this month. It’s quite possible we could get a peek at the game as early as Thursday, and perhaps even learn its release date, given that it’s expected to launch before the end of 2025.

An additional game I foresaw in my forecast for the Partner Showcase last week was “Hades II”. Although this game wasn’t featured in the previous Nintendo Direct, it could be a perfect fit for an Indie World stream. It’s plausible that the game might be unveiled during the presentation in what is known as a ‘shadow drop’, and such a surprise would undoubtedly delight fans of the original game. There are hints that this could happen, as the game recently added achievements on Steam, only to have them swiftly withdrawn afterwards.

Although independent game announcements might not create the same frenzy as a major Nintendo Direct event, there are still plenty of reasons for fans to look forward to Thursday’s broadcast. Indie games have significantly enriched the Switch library over the past eight years, and numerous exceptional indie games have thrived on Nintendo platforms. However, it’s also true that many indie games haven’t been released on the Switch due to its lower capabilities compared to other systems. The arrival of Switch 2 could potentially change this situation, making it intriguing to see which titles Nintendo decides to spotlight later this week.
