Nintendo Confirms 10 Upcoming First-Party Games for Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 has had a strong start to sales since its release earlier this year, surpassing the initial performance of all previous Nintendo consoles. While many gamers are eager to buy one, some are holding off until more exclusive games are available. Although the Switch 2 can play most games from the original Switch, there haven’t been many brand new games made specifically for it yet in 2025. However, Nintendo’s latest financial report indicates that they have a number of new games planned for the console in the near future.

Nintendo recently shared its financial report, detailing plans for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Following a review of how initial games like Mario Kart World performed, the report highlighted a strong lineup of new first-party games. Switch 2 owners have a lot to anticipate, with at least 10 new titles planned for release between this holiday season and 2026.

Upcoming First-Party Games for Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo’s latest financial report details its game release plans, dividing them into two groups: games coming out this holiday season, and those planned for after the holidays. Nintendo aims to keep the excitement going for the Switch 2 well into 2026 with several games scheduled for release then. While many of these titles have been announced before, seeing a complete list helps potential buyers decide if they should purchase a Switch 2 bundle this holiday season.

Here’s a look at the Nintendo Switch 2 games Nintendo plans to release in 2025:

  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment – November 6th
  • Kirby Air Riders – November 20th
  • Metroid Prime 4 – December 4th

Currently, Nintendo plans to release 7 exclusive games for the Switch 2 in 2026. While only a few have specific release dates, this gives us a good preview of what’s coming next year. Here’s what’s been announced for the Switch 2 in 2026 so far:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 Edition – January 15th, 2026
  • Mario Tennis Fever – February 12th, 2026
  • Super Mario Bros Wonder Switch 2 Edition – Spring 2026
  • Yoshi and the Mysterious Book – Spring 2026
  • Pokemon Pokopia – 2026
  • Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave – 2026
  • Splatoon Raiders – 2026

It seems Nintendo is perhaps overdoing things a bit. Although 10 games are planned for the Switch 2, two of them are simply updated versions of games already available. While a refreshed edition of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is nice, many fans were really hoping for a completely new sequel. Still, there’s plenty to be excited about, including a new Yoshi game, the first-ever Pokémon life simulation game, and new installments of Fire Emblem and Splatoon.

Nintendo revealed these game titles previously, so nothing announced is unexpected. While a new Animal Crossing, 3D Mario, or other Nintendo-made game might be in the works, Nintendo isn’t sharing any information about those projects just yet. We can expect to learn more about these and other future games as we get closer to 2026.
