Rumors are circulating that Nintendo will be holding a major Direct presentation in February 2026. Nintendo typically hosts a large Direct around this time each year, so fans were already expecting one. Now, a reliable source has confirmed that a Direct is planned and will likely happen sooner than expected.
According to Nintendo insider Nate the Hate, a new Nintendo Direct presentation is currently being planned for the week of February 5th. While February 5th is the rumored date, it hasn’t been officially confirmed. Nate also notes that the type of Direct is still unknown. It might be a general Direct showcasing games from both Nintendo and other companies, or it could be a Partner Direct, focusing solely on third-party games. We likely won’t have official details until Nintendo announces the event, which is expected to happen next week.
A New Nintendo Direct Will Also Happen This Week

Nintendo recently announced a new Direct presentation happening very soon. This showcase will focus exclusively on one game for the Switch 2: Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. The game, a follow-up to the popular Nintendo 3DS title, was revealed last year and is expected to release in late 2026. The Direct for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is scheduled for about 20 minutes and will be held on Thursday, January 29th.
Tune in to the #TomodachiLife: Living the Dream Nintendo Direct on January 29th at 6:00 AM Pacific Time! This 20-minute presentation will share details about the new game coming to Nintendo Switch. #NintendoDirect

It’s hard to believe, but this Tomodachi Life broadcast will be the second Nintendo Direct this week! Nintendo recently held a short Direct to share a new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. So, when this February 2026 Direct happens, it will actually be the third Direct of the year, even though it’s the first one presented in the usual Direct format.
