For the first time ever, some classic Nintendo DS and Wii games are coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. These mid-2000s titles from EA will be available starting November 18th for $40, and will be sold as a bundle – you won’t be able to buy them separately.
I remember being totally hooked on MySims and MySims Kingdom back when I had my Nintendo DS and Wii in 2007 and 2008! It was such a fun spin-off of The Sims. I was so excited when I heard they were bringing both games back as MySims: Cozy Bundle earlier this year on Switch and PC. And now, even better, it’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X! It’s not just a simple re-release either – they’ve actually remastered the games and updated them to make them even better!
About the Games
I remember when MySims first came out! It was made by EA Redwood Shores and a Japanese studio called TOSE – though EA Redwood Shores isn’t around anymore, and TOSE mostly does support work now. It got a pretty average score of 68 on Metacritic, but people actually bought it! That’s why we got a sequel a year later, and why it’s still being re-released even now, almost twenty years on. It was a huge hit on the Nintendo DS, actually one of the best-selling games ever on that system. The sequel was even better, scoring a 76 on Metacritic. After that, they kept the series going with a bunch more games: MySims Party, MySims Racing, and MySims Agents all came out in 2009, and then MySims Sky Heroes in 2010.
The MySims series hasn’t seen a new release in a while, but EA reported that the MySims: Cozy Bundle re-release performed very well. This suggests the company is considering bringing the series back, and it’s likely they’re already working on a new MySims game.
These games are similar to The Sims, but with a more relaxed and community-focused approach. Instead of managing one household, you build and nurture an entire town.
