Despite rumors circulating about a potential Nintendo Direct in September, Nintendo has yet to officially confirm it. However, there’s a possibility that an announcement could be made this week. Prior to any official news, a trusted Nintendo insider has hinted at some of the games expected to feature in the hypothetical Nintendo Direct. A new source, Switch Force, which has recently established a reputation for accuracy, has shared these latest rumors. Regrettably, the details are somewhat vague, much like previous speculations about this upcoming Nintendo Direct.
Based on Switch Force’s announcement, it’s expected that three games featuring “7” or “VII” will be showcased during the Nintendo Direct event. However, Switch Force doesn’t specify which games exactly. Since there aren’t many games with either number in their titles, we can narrow down the possibilities.
Potential Games
Could these unspecified games be any of the following recent or upcoming titles that match the criteria? Here they are: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Resident Evil 7, Bond’s 007 First Light, Final Fantasy VII: The Crisis Core, and Civilization VII.
It’s not out of the question that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth might appear on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, or even both platforms, considering previous speculation. Similarly, with Microsoft promising to continue releasing Call of Duty games on Nintendo devices, it’s possible we’ll see Black Ops 7. As for other games, while they may be more speculative, they’re not entirely unreasonable. For instance, since Resident Evil 7 is already available on Switch, it wouldn’t be shocking if Resident Evil Requiem came to Switch 2 before that. This is especially plausible given the recent whispers about a 2026 Resident Evil game for Switch 2. In the same vein, given that the previous Civilization game is on Switch, it’s quite likely that this year’s new installment will find its way to Nintendo Switch 2. The pattern holds true for games like Yakuza: Like a Dragon as well.
It’s possible to think about the possibility that some, maybe even all, of the games in question might be new releases that haven’t been announced yet. In fact, there have been whispers circulating for a while now about a potential remake of Dragon Quest 7.
As a fellow enthusiast, I must admit that at the moment, we’re mostly swimming in speculation regarding potential game releases. Remember, this speculation, along with the rumor it stemmed from, should be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism. So far, Nintendo has maintained a tight lip about the matter, and given their history of not commenting on Nintendo Direct rumors, we don’t anticipate this to change. However, if they do decide to shed some light, we’ll promptly update the story. Until then, feel free to share your thoughts below. What among these games are you most eager to see grace the screens of the Switch or Switch 2?
