Nintendo fans have a lot to be excited about! The new Switch 2 is here, and it’s launched with more support from third-party game developers than any previous Nintendo console. This means a huge selection of games are available right away, and even more are coming soon. Players will have plenty of choices from day one, showcasing a thriving game library.
Nintendo’s latest financial results for the first half of 2026 reveal a significant boost from the new Switch 2 console. The company’s net sales reached 1.1 trillion yen, more than double the amount from the previous year. Operating profit also increased substantially, rising to 145.1 billion yen. Based on this success, Nintendo now expects to sell 19 million Switch 2 units this year, up from an initial forecast of 15 million. Overall, the video game platform business grew by nearly 120 percent, demonstrating the strong positive impact of the Switch 2 on Nintendo’s performance.

As a Switch fan, I’m so excited about the games already available on the new Switch 2! I was thrilled to see that Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, complete with the Phantom Liberty expansion, launched right alongside the console. Plus, the fact that it plays all my existing Switch games is a huge bonus – instant library! And it’s not just launch titles, either. Big games like Elden Ring are confirmed to be coming, though we’ll have to wait a bit longer to play those. It’s shaping up to be an amazing system!
The Switch 2 boasts a fantastic lineup of games from developers other than Nintendo. It includes major blockbuster titles, well-regarded mid-range games, popular indie hits, and options for families – meaning there’s something for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned gamer or new to the hobby. This strong support from outside developers is great news for both players, who will have more games to choose from, and developers themselves, who will reach a large and active player base on a console that’s already proving successful.
Even though we don’t have a full list of games yet, it’s already obvious the Switch 2 will have strong support from other game companies. From the start, the console is offering a great mix of different types of high-quality games. With both the games available now and those coming soon, the Switch 2 looks set to gain popularity throughout its first year and for years to come. Nintendo is smartly combining its own popular games with a wide selection of titles from other developers, making the Switch 2 a destination for both classic Nintendo experiences and a diverse range of other games.
The Switch 2 is off to a fantastic start! It’s launched with a great selection of high-quality games and has already received unprecedented support from game developers. This strong beginning promises a very exciting year for Nintendo fans.
