Nintendo Switch 2 Getting One of the Best Survival Games Ever Soon

A highly-rated survival game will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 very soon. The Switch 2, despite being less than a year old, is quickly becoming a popular platform for survival games, with titles like Valheim and Ark: Survival Ascended already planned for release. And before those games arrive, the console will receive an enhanced version of another major survival title within the next week.

The popular underwater survival game Subnautica is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on February 17th, and it’s getting a significant upgrade. Originally released in 2018 and available on Switch since 2021, the game will now run at a smooth 60 frames per second on the new hardware. When played on a TV, Subnautica will display in 1440p resolution, and the handheld version will run at 1080p. This upgraded version aims to provide a much better experience than the previous Switch release, which was limited by the older console’s power.

The good news doesn’t stop with Subnautica coming to the Switch 2! Its spin-off, Subnautica: Below Zero, which is set in the arctic, will also be available on the new Nintendo console starting February 17th. This means players will be able to enjoy the complete Subnautica experience on Nintendo hardware, and that’s exciting news for Switch 2 owners.

If you already have Subnautica or Subnautica: Below Zero on Nintendo Switch, the new version for Switch 2 will be a free update. Unknown Worlds is releasing it as a complimentary download for existing owners. If you’re buying the games for the first time on the eShop, each title will cost $30.

With Subnautica and Below Zero coming to the Switch 2, it’s a great moment considering Subnautica 2 is launching later this year. However, Subnautica 2 will initially be available only through early access, and unfortunately, not on the Switch 2. Despite this, it seems likely that Subnautica 2 will eventually come to the Switch 2, especially since the developers, Unknown Worlds, have recently started releasing games on Nintendo consoles.
