A highly-rated game from 2024 is expected to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Since its launch last June, many game publishers have been working to bring their popular titles to the new system. Games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Cyberpunk 2077, Street Fighter 6, and Hitman: World of Assassination are already available on the Nintendo Switch 2. According to a recent report, this trend will continue, and one of the best role-playing games of the last ten years should be coming to the Switch 2 soon.
Video game source Nate the Hate reports that Atlus plans to release its popular RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Metaphor, which plays similarly to Atlus’ Persona games, came out in 2024 to rave reviews, earning a 94/100 score on Metacritic and several Game of the Year nominations (and wins). Currently, the game is only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but this Switch 2 version would mark its first appearance on a Nintendo console.

It’s not surprising to hear Atlus might bring Metaphor: ReFantazio to the Nintendo Switch 2, considering their recent actions. They released Persona 3 Reload on the Switch 2 in late 2025 after it had been available on other platforms the year before. Sega, Atlus’s parent company, has also been actively supporting the Switch 2 since its launch, already bringing games like Yakuza 0, Sonic x Shadow Generations, and Puyo Puyo Tetris to the console. It would make sense for Metaphor to be the next game to receive this treatment.
We might hear about Metaphor: ReFantazio coming to the Switch 2 as early as next week. According to Nate the Hate, Nintendo is planning a new Direct presentation in the first week of February, possibly on February 5th. If that happens, it would be a great time to reveal Metaphor for the Switch 2.
