A new rumor from Nintendo insider Nash Weedle suggests we might see a new 3D Mario game revealed this week. Weedle has a good track record – they correctly predicted the announcement of a new Donkey Kong game at the last Nintendo Direct. This announcement hinges on whether Nintendo’s planned Direct happens as scheduled, as these presentations are sometimes postponed.

New 3D Mario Game Releasing This Year

As a big Mario fan, I remember how quickly Super Mario Odyssey came out after it was announced – revealed in October 2016 and released almost exactly a year later in October 2017. That makes me hopeful! If Nintendo reveals a new 3D Mario game for the Switch 2 this week, I think it’s totally possible we could be playing it this holiday season. Honestly, a new 3D Mario doesn’t need a huge marketing push. If it’s anything like the past games – and I’m pretty confident it will be amazing – it’ll fly off the shelves and probably give the Switch 2 a big sales boost too!
