Role-playing games, or RPGs, will be a major part of the Nintendo Switch 2’s game library, with exciting adventures created by many different developers. New RPGs are constantly being released for the platform, letting players enjoy them whether they’re playing handheld or docked at home. A recent preview suggests even more RPGs are on the way for the Switch 2, giving players plenty of choices.
The Switch 2 is set to receive at least six new role-playing games this year, with several major titles arriving soon. Popular RPGs that were previously only available on other platforms are now coming to Nintendo’s system, giving players more options. While it’s still unknown how well these games will run on the Switch 2, these releases significantly expand the variety of RPGs available on Nintendo’s most powerful console.
Nintendo’s Latest Switch 2 Showcase Announced Three Major Bethesda RPGs Coming To The Platform

Bethesda, a major name in role-playing games, will have three titles available on the new Switch 2. Players can look forward to both Oblivion Remastered and Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition in 2026, with Fallout 4 launching as early as February 24th. This timing allows players to jump into the game’s post-apocalyptic world right around the time the second season of the Fallout TV series finishes airing.
The Anniversary Edition of Fallout 4 includes all downloadable content, so players can enjoy the complete game without needing to purchase any expansions separately. While we don’t have a release date yet for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, it’s expected to include all previously released content as well. Fans can anticipate this game launching later in 2026, probably in the fall or winter.
Bethesda is bringing the action-adventure game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to the Switch 2. Developed by MachineGames and released in 2024, the game will be available on Nintendo’s console on May 12, 2026. Players will step into the shoes of Indiana Jones and can customize him as they embark on a new adventure filled with puzzles and exploration.
Another Cygames Action RPG Also Releases With A New Expansion On The Switch 2

Nintendo also revealed Granblue Fantasy: Relink, a cooperative action RPG based on the popular Granblue Fantasy series. Players can team up online to battle enormous creatures using customized characters and special skills, offering a fantastic player-versus-environment experience for fans of the original mobile game. It’s coming to the Switch 2 on July 9, 2026, and Nintendo surprised everyone with the announcement that it’s also being released on the new console.
When Granblue Fantasy: Relink launches on the Switch 2, it will receive a major expansion called Endless Ragnarok. This downloadable content will add new characters, enemies, and levels to the game, and will be available on all platforms. The expansion was prominently featured during the Switch 2 showcase. Alongside Monster Hunter Stories 3 arriving in March 2026, this adds another exciting RPG to the Switch 2’s lineup.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger Arrives For The Switch & Switch 2 In July 2026

One of the most exciting games shown off for the Switch 2 was Digimon Story: Time Stranger, a promising RPG scheduled to launch on Nintendo platforms on July 10, 2026. What’s unique about this game is that it’s coming to both the new Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch, giving players the option to buy it physically or digitally for either console.
Players of the game Digimon Story will be able to choose their preferred graphics style, allowing for some visual customization. This RPG was a surprising success in late 2025, offering deep gameplay that really captures the spirit of the Digimon series. The digital world feels more immersive than ever, with lots of ways to evolve your Digimon companions and shape your adventure with meaningful choices.
The Switch 2 is set to have a great lineup of games, especially with titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on the way. Nintendo fans who only use Switch consoles will have plenty to play, and the system’s growing collection of RPGs suggests that future games in that genre will likely launch on Switch 2 first, rather than being released for it later.
