Nintendo Switch Online has been updated recently with the addition of GameCube games and more classic titles. Now, to celebrate Halloween, Nintendo is offering new, spooky-themed character icons as rewards. Players can earn these icons using Platinum Points. However, some fans have pointed out that a few popular characters are missing from the available options.
User icons on Nintendo Switch are like profile pictures, but instead of using your own photos, you pick from Nintendo characters and items. With a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you can earn special icons by completing tasks – some of these icons aren’t available anywhere else! There are also new, fun icons for Halloween, letting you decorate your profile with the season. While popular characters like Mario and Peach have costumes, some other expected choices aren’t included.
Nintendo Didn’t Include Boo In Its Halloween Icon Lineup, And Fans Are Furious

Nintendo recently shared a set of Halloween-themed icons featuring characters like Mario, Peach, and Luigi in costumes. The set also includes Toad, Yoshi, and Dry Bones, plus some water-dwelling characters. However, fans responding to the post are most interested in knowing where Boo, Nintendo’s iconic ghost, is – and where other Halloween costumes for beloved characters might be!
These new Halloween-themed icons are available now until November 3rd, and fans are enjoying the spooky designs. However, many are hoping for a wider selection of characters dressed up for the holiday. Players have been specifically requesting costumes like Daisy as a pumpkin, witch Rosalina, and even Zombie Wario, with one fan jokingly calling the lack of a Halloween Boo icon a ‘blasphemy.’ A lot of these desired costumes originally appeared as character skins in Mario Kart Tour, which has inspired fans to ask Nintendo for even more options.
Players are excited about the possibility of seeing popular characters and costumes from previous games added to Mario Kart World. Currently, the new game doesn’t include these character variations, and having the icons serves as a reminder of those missing options.
This is nice but these, or at least some of these, really should be in Mario Kart World.

Halloween isn’t here yet, so Nintendo might still have a few surprises for us. We haven’t heard anything about an update to Mario Kart World, but it’s always possible! If you’re looking to celebrate Halloween and have Platinum Points in your Nintendo Switch Online account, you can purchase special Halloween-themed icons for just 10 points each.
What are your thoughts on the new Halloween profile icons for Nintendo Switch Online? Is there a character you’d love to see get an icon too? Share your ideas and join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum!
