With a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you get several benefits, including online multiplayer gaming and access to collections of classic games. You also earn Platinum Points, which you can use to get fun virtual items. These items are often used to personalize your Nintendo online profile with things like icons and backgrounds. Now, to celebrate a highly anticipated game, Nintendo is offering even more special, limited-time rewards for its members.
Just before the launch of Pokemon Pokopia on March 5th, Nintendo announced new, limited-edition custom icons for Nintendo Switch Online. These icons are based on characters from Pokemon Pokopia and will be released in four sets throughout the month. The first set is available now, offering a variety of characters, backgrounds, and frame options. Here’s a guide on how to get these icons and the release dates for each of the four waves.
Nintendo Switch Online Adds New Limited-Time Pokemon Pokopia Icons
New custom icon rewards inspired by Pokémon Picross are now available for Nintendo Switch Online members! Find them by going to the Nintendo Switch Online section on the home menu and selecting “Missions & Rewards.”
This collection features 10 unique characters, 7 backgrounds, and 5 different frames. It also includes some of the cute, new Pokémon versions exclusive to Pokopia. These items will be available until March 11th at 5:59 PM Pacific Time / 8:59 PM Eastern Time. After that, new rewards will be offered.
We’re kicking things off with a great selection! For just 10 Platinum Points, you can select one of these characters:
- Female Human Ditto
- Male Human Ditto
- Professor Tangrowth
- Normal Blob Ditto
- Pikachu
- Peakychu
- Ditto Flying with Drifloon
- Ditto as Dragonite
- Smearguru
- Bulbasaur
- PokeDex
You can also customize your profile with backgrounds and frames inspired by the world of Pokopia. Each of these costs 5 Platinum Points. Some frames will unlock as you play the game, like when you encounter certain Pokemon.
Over the next few weeks, three new updates will be released, each adding fresh characters, backgrounds, and icon frames. These new customization options will become available every Wednesday, starting March 11th, with further releases on March 18th and March 25th. A sneak peek from Nintendo hints at both alternate versions of existing characters and completely new faces, like Mosslax. Once you’ve unlocked and purchased these profile icon pieces, you can design a unique icon to show off on your Nintendo profile and let everyone know you’re enjoying Pokopia.
