Okay, so Nintendo just bought Bandai Namco Studios Singapore! Basically, they’re looking to beef up their game development teams, and this seemed like a good way to do it. Bandai Namco Studios Singapore will now be called Nintendo Studios Singapore, but they’ll still be making games – just under Nintendo’s umbrella now. It’s cool to see Nintendo investing in more studios, hopefully it means even more awesome games for us!
Nintendo describes its rationale for the acquisitions as follows:
Bandai Namco Studios Singapore is a development studio and part of the Bandai Namco Group. They specialize in creating art for video games and have a strong working relationship with Nintendo, having contributed to popular titles like the Splatoon series.
Nintendo is buying shares in Bandai Namco Studios Singapore to boost its game development capabilities.
Nintendo intends to purchase 80% of Bandai Namco Studios Singapore by April 1, 2026. They plan to buy the remaining shares later, once the studio is operating smoothly.
