Everyone knows Nintendo is currently fighting legal battles with Palworld, accusing the game of copying their work. Now, another similar game has been announced, and its gameplay seems even more directly inspired by Nintendo’s Pokémon series. Some believe this new game might make Nintendo lose focus on the Palworld case, but it’s more likely Nintendo will use it as an opportunity to strengthen their legal efforts and pursue both games for copyright infringement.
Many games try to copy the success of Pokémon, but few come close to matching its popularity. With the release of Pokémon Winds and Waves, the newest generation of Pokémon games, similar titles like Palworld face an even bigger challenge, even with improvements. As Nintendo continues to push Palworld to make changes, it will likely be harder for any new games to compete with Pokémon.
Pickmon’s Announcement Trailer Shows Off Another Pokémon Clone Like Palworld

PocketGame’s new game, Pickmon, revealed a trailer in March 2026 showcasing a vast open world filled with creatures players can collect and team up with. The game looks a lot like Palworld, borrowing gameplay elements from Pokemon and drawing inspiration from games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The Pickmon themselves can battle, help with farming, and perform other familiar tasks from various popular games.
Early gameplay of Pickmon looks a lot like Palworld, especially in its art style. The game features detailed, realistic environments filled with large, 3D creatures called Pickmon, each living in different areas of the open world. Players will explore ancient ruins, fight a mysterious group, and use their Pickmon for battles and gathering resources – all within a survival system that closely mirrors Palworld‘s gameplay, including managing food and basic needs.
It’s a bit strange to compare Pickmon to other games, because it appears to borrow ideas from both Pokémon and Palworld. While we don’t know when it will be released, many people predict Pickmon could face similar legal issues to Palworld, as Nintendo is known for protecting its copyrights.
Palworld’s Ongoing Lawsuit With Nintendo Won’t Diminish As Pickmon Gets Sued Too

Okay, so Palworld added this new thing called Pickmon, but honestly, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to help with the legal mess they’re in. Even though they’ve taken out some stuff that looked really similar to Pokemon, Nintendo keeps hitting them with new accusations and lawsuits with every update. It’s frustrating because Palworld isn’t even fully finished – the 1.0 launch isn’t planned until 2026! Adding Pickmon just feels like it’s giving Nintendo more to complain about, not less. It’s a tough situation, and I don’t see it getting resolved quickly.
Games like Pickmon aren’t a real threat to Nintendo; the company has a strong legal team ready to protect its interests. Instead of hindering Nintendo’s response to Palworld, Pickmon might actually help Nintendo build a stronger case against both games. The more obvious the copying, as seen in Pickmon, the easier it is for Nintendo to argue that its brand is being damaged by illegal imitation.
Development Behind Pickmon Might Create Three Roads Of Copyright Claims That Create Further Arguments

Like Palworld, Pickmon has the potential to become popular if it offers fun gameplay and an interesting world. However, it’s raising concerns because it appears to copy Palworld‘s mechanics almost exactly, which is likely to upset both Palworld and Nintendo. It’s very possible that Pickmon‘s developer, PocketGame, could soon find itself caught in a legal battle between Nintendo and Palworld, with both sides potentially pursuing a lengthy and complex case.
The growing popularity of Palworld and Pickmon could lead to legal challenges from Nintendo, potentially slowing down updates for both indie games. Nintendo has the financial means to pursue copyright claims against both, while Palworld and Pickmon don’t have the same resources to defend themselves. This could result in one or both of the indie games being forced to shut down due to the pressure of a legal battle.
As a fan, I’m a little worried about how the whole Pickmon situation is unfolding. It just seems to complicate things, especially for Palworld with all their big updates coming up this year. Nintendo’s been really strict about protecting their brands from indie games, and having Pickmon and Palworld both in the mix feels like it could create even more trouble than it solves. I really hope everything works out for Palworld, but this feels like a risky situation.
