Like its predecessors, Nioh 3 is a fairly lengthy game, even among many of its Souls-like peers.
Whether you’re starting with the first challenge against Yamagata Masakage or reaching the very end, you’ll find this experience is well worth the cost.
As you progress, youโll encounter enemies like Spirit Veins and Bloodedge Demons while battling to protect Edo Castle.
So, how many chapters does Nioh 3 have? Hereโs a complete list of the gameโs main missions, along with an estimate of how long it takes to finish the game.
Full list of Nioh 3 chapters
As a big Nioh fan, I’ve been loving Nioh 3! The game is broken down into seven really distinct chapters, and each one sends you to a totally new and interesting location. Here’s where you’ll be going:
- 1622 CE โ Edo
- 1572 CE โ Warring States
- 1190 CE โ Heian
- 247 CE โ Antiquity
- 1622 CE โ Return to Edo
- 1864 CE โ Bakumatsu
- 1622 CE โ Final Battle of Edo
Chapters 2, 3, and 6 let you freely explore large open areas, but the other chapters are more focused on telling the story in a straightforward way.
The straightforward chapters are much quicker to finish than the open-world sections, because you won’t need to spend as much time exploring.

Nioh 3 length and time to beat
An average playthrough of Nioh 3 will take around 50-60 hours to complete.
This estimate considers both finishing the main story and spending some time on optional activities, which most players will likely do anyway to earn Amrita and improve their character.
Players aiming to simply finish the game can expect to spend around 40 to 50 hours doing so. Those who want to fully complete everything will likely spend over 70 hours.
After you finish the game once, you’ll unlock a New Game Plus mode called Shogun’s Journey. This lets you start a new playthrough with all your powerful weapons, but the game will be even more challenging.
