■ About
GOBBLE is a brand-new 2D action game developed by Nippon Ichi Software as part of their internal game creation event, Project Pitch Fest – the same event that brought us games like Yomawari and The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. It features bright, cartoon-style graphics and energetic animations, creating a world that’s both visually appealing and surprisingly dark, making it enjoyable to both play and watch.
■ Story
Long ago, the world was overrun by frightening monsters, all controlled by a cruel Demon King who brought fear to everyone. When things seemed hopeless, a young man rose up to challenge the Demon King. He won the battle, and with the Demon King’s defeat, all the monsters vanished. This courageous young man became known as the Hero.
Luto had heard this story all his life. Now, unbelievably, the monsters from the tale were standing right before him – creatures everyone believed were long gone. Unable to fight, Luto was in serious trouble. And then, a boastful and self-centered bird monster showed up.
“Use me.”
Guided by this hungry monster, the peace that filled everyday life begins to crumble.
“I am hungry!!”
■ Characters
Luto
The boy who aspires to be a hero.

Luto is a courageous, though impulsive, young boy living in a quiet village. When monsters attacked, he disregarded his family’s warnings and rushed into the danger, quickly finding himself in a difficult predicament.
This is where he encounters Camael, a monster who seems untrustworthy. Reluctantly, he hears Camael out and begins a quest to locate his family.

Camael
The self-proclaimed strongest monster.

This creature resembles a bird but can talk like a person. It considers itself superior to humans and forces someone named Luto to serve it, likely to get food.
This unusual creature hunts other monsters, gaining their abilities after it eats them. Its main focus is simply feeding, and it frequently fights with Luto.

■ Cartoon-Style Graphics
The cartoonish design of this game is one of its main selling points.
The art style is bold and colorful, and the characters are very expressive, bringing the visuals to life.
—It’s fun to simply watch the characters express themselves.

■ Onomatopoeia
As you play, you’ll notice visual and sound effects – like words that represent sounds – appearing on screen to highlight things like Luto’s movements and the wind.
The game’s cartoon style is boosted by on-screen words like “DASH” and “HOP” whenever the character runs or jumps, creating a fast-paced, anime-like feel.
—Each of Luto’s actions are accompanied by an onomatopoeia.

—Words like “chilly” and “drafty” help set a cold atmosphere.

■ Comic
The game features comic book-style visuals that pop up throughout the story. These images offer a more engaging experience than simply reading the text, allowing players to enjoy the narrative even just by watching.
—Impressive comics have dynamic art!

—They can even appear when you are progressing through the stage.

■ “Predation”: The Key to Gameplay
Luto’s levels are overrun with monsters! You’ll use Camael’s abilities to battle them. When you defeat a monster, you can absorb it.
Defeating enemies restores your health as ‘predation hearts.’ Plus, by consuming monsters, you can gain their abilities and use them to help you succeed!
—A corpse appears after defeating an enemy…which means it’s time for predation!

—When consuming, the word “GOBBLE” appears in large letters!

In order to satisfy Camael’s hunger, you need to consume as many monsters as possible!
