After nearly a decade of huge updates following its release, it’s surprising to see where No Man’s Sky is heading next: it’s embracing elements from Pokémon!
Okay, so the latest No Man’s Sky update just dropped, and it’s awesome! Now I can actually raise alien creatures – like, tame ’em and build relationships – and then pit them against others in this new arena called the Xeno Arena. It’s a really cool addition to the game!
Now you can collect and train all the strange and amazing creatures you find while exploring the galaxy! Use them to battle other players’ creatures and challenge non-player characters.
After this update, you’ll find Xeno Arenas at all space stations and in the Nexus. If you have the necessary materials, you can even construct your own arena and challenge others to battles.
Each creature’s powers and attacks depend on its element, which is determined by where it lives and what it’s like. For example, a creature from a poisonous planet will have different abilities than a flying dinosaur from a frozen moon, as stated in a recent announcement.
You can nurture your alien friends, help them reproduce, and even alter their genes to create unique types and colors. To make them stronger, you’ll need to feed them, build a connection with them, and train them in battle.
It’s yet another significant update to what is already a sprawling sci-fi exploration game.
As big fans of games like Pokémon, Palworld, and pet battles in World of Warcraft, we wanted to add a new layer of discovery to the game. Now, when you find a rare robotic creature on a distant purple planet, you can learn about its unique abilities – maybe even a powerful neutron blast! This makes exploration much more exciting, and finding rare creatures and pets feels truly rewarding, especially when you can show them off in the Arena. – Sean Murray
