No One Seems to Know if This Shenmue 4 Trailer Is Real or AI

Don’t play with our emotions like this. Seriously, this is cruel.

Where did this blurry, unofficial trailer for Shenmue 4 suddenly appear, and was it created using artificial intelligence? It doesn’t seem like AI to us, but with today’s technology, it’s hard to say for certain.

The new trailer is fantastic for fans of the classic SEGA series. It features Ryo Hazuki in China, along with his familiar companions, Ren and Shenhua.

We finally see Niao Sun, a character originally designed for the first Shenmue but who didn’t make an appearance until Shenmue 3.

The new video shows off several different minigames, ranging from everyday tasks like washing dishes to an arcade game called Shenmue Fighters that plays like Street Fighter. Players will also be able to purchase and wear various outfits. It all seems surprisingly detailed – is this really powered by AI?

Near the trailer’s end, a flashback appears a bit odd, but everything else seems in line with the technology Ys Net used for Shenmue 3.

The copyright details state that this project is still under development and, if legitimate, Yu Suzuki’s company is now handling the licensing for the franchise, having obtained it from SEGA.

The trailer initially surfaced on a little-known YouTube channel that had previously posted videos of Astro Bot and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. The channel only has six subscribers.

We’re impressed with what we’ve seen – it looks fantastic and like a true Shenmue game! However, we’re still trying to confirm if it’s legitimate. We’ve reached out for more information and will share updates as soon as we have them.
