Moon Studios, creators of action RPG “No Rest for the Wicked,” may opt not to include Xbox Series X/S among the platforms for its final release. This suggestion was made by Thomas Mahler, the studio’s CEO and creative director, during a discussion on the game’s Discord channel.
As a gamer speaking directly, “Under the current situation in the gaming market, it looks like our game may debut exclusively on PS5 and possibly Switch 2, but we’re still talking things over with Microsoft to determine the best course of action regarding Xbox. To clarify, this isn’t a definitive announcement that the game will be available on Xbox yet; for now, it’s just speculation.
He wrote, “As of now, there’s no official confirmation about it yet. However, considering the sales figures, the PS5 seems to be the best choice for us at this point in time. Nevertheless, we intend to release our game on all platforms eventually, but probably not simultaneously!
Mahler stated that this decision should boost your trust in our vision, as we now have the freedom to create ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ according to our desires, without any interruptions or pauses.
In simpler terms, while it’s uncertain if “No Rest for the Wicked” will be available on Xbox at launch, there’s a possibility it may arrive later. However, it’s important to note that when dealing with consoles, the PS5 is a major focus for the studio. Given the early success of the Nintendo Switch 2, it could also become a platform that Moon Studios prioritizes in the future.
Moon Studios announced in March that they had become independent from Private Division following Take-Two’s decision to sell the indie publishing company. This information was shared in a video, during which the studio also unveiled ‘The Breach’, initially set for release in No Rest for the Wicked. The announcement was made jointly by Mahler and Gennadiy Korol.
According to Korol, the publisher for ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ was Private Division, a branch of Take-Two Interactive. It came as surprising news when Take-Two announced they were selling off Private Division. However, after careful consideration, we saw a potential opportunity.
Following prolonged discussions, we secured a deal to repurchase the publishing rights for “No Rest for the Wicked“, allowing Moon Studios to operate independently as a result, according to Korol. This complex legal procedure required patience, and during that time, we were unable to disclose much information about it.
Regarding the game “No Rest for the Wicked”, it received an update titled “The Breach” in April. This update introduced a wealth of fresh content, such as new story quests, additional scenes, and two meticulously designed areas – Lowland Meadows and Marin Woods. These newly added regions also offer new settlements to discover, like Hunter’s Vale and Marin Village.
